4 A Low Cost, Point Of Care Device For Early Detection Of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Diabetes and hypertension are two major causes for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Patients having final stage of CKD, stage5 or ESRD (End stage renal diseases) need either dialysis or kidney transplantation. It is estimated that in India has around 124 million people having CKD which is growing at a rate of over 30% per year. The urine strip along with an android based mobile application detects the amount of microalbuminuria present in the urine samples and helps to decide the presence of CKD in general populations which is especially useful in case of elderly people, rural and remote places. The patient related information is uploaded to cloud based disease management platform called Renalyx Care to assist the patient in delaying CKD stage progression. Most of these patients lies in the age group of average greater than 40 years. Asymptotic nature of CKD requires patient to have an awareness and early detection to prevent CKD.
