The subjects were 100 male of Panjab University inter college level Kho-Kho players between 18to 25 years of age. These students were studying in various affiliated colleges and various departments of Punjab University, Chandigarh. The relationships between dependent variable i.e. over all Kho-kho playing ability and independent variables. I.e. motor fitness variables was established by computing Pearson s (sero or der) the combined contribution of all the motor fitness variables to overall Kho- Kho playing ability was obtained through multiple correlations.the result shows that the motor fitness variables of women kho-kho players have superior power and better reaction time during playing kho-kho. Agility, co-ordination power were highly correlated with the playing ability of women kho-kho players. There was no linear relationship between the predictor and the dependent variables. When all the five predictors (motor fitness) were entered, the significance level associated with. It is displayed in the value of coefficient in the regression equation and measures the probability that the linear relationship exists between each predictor variable and the dependent variable. Keywords: motor fitness, playing ability. Introduction Physical Education & Sports provide an opportunity likes communication, contact and collaboration with others peoples. Playing sports is positive for the growth of body and social skills. Sports give confidence mutual thinking, control planning and delegation skills and also enhance self-reliance. Success in a sport gives a common sense of achievement, which as a result arouses one s recognition further. Sports are not just a religion, moral idea or an art but it is the mixture of all these things. It is a competitive physical activity which can either be casual or organized and its aim is to utilize, maintain and improve skills and physical ability while provide entertainment to participants and spectators. Sports activities are governed by a set of rules or customs, which make sure fair competitions. The sports member of the electorate at various levels usually considers the performance during the practice match and qualifies competitions but the physiological basis is usually unseen most of the time. So, physical fitness must be needed for vigorous participation in games and sports. It is across the world accepted phenomena that if the players are physically fit then he / she can achieve success in various games and sports activities. The basic stage of physical fitness plays an important role in improving the performance of an individual to achieve something in a particular game. Sports activities can be broadly organize into several areas like, health and fitness, physical education, performance sports, rehabilitation sports, leisure sports and adventure sports etc..kho-kho was a very tiring game with loose rules. The first code of rules was drawn by a Joint Committee consisting of Kho-Kho experts appointed by the Deccan Gymkhana, Poona in the year 160

2 1914. From this year onwards, the game Kho-Kho came into existence in the form of organized matches. It is a fact that Maharashtra is the pioneer state in standardizing and popularizing the game. The kho- kho players performance depends high level of motor finest factor like speed, endurance, agility, power, flexibility, balance, reaction time, neuromuscular co-ordination, explosive strength, speed of movement and match practices are the principal qualities which should go with the khokho players. The Coach and game expert must be looked-for to develop these abilities in the kho-kho players through implement the various training methods. Now a days more development noticed in this game if they are physical fitness, Procedure and Methodology The objective of the present study was to find the selected Motor fitness variables as predictors in Kho-Kho playing ability. The subjects were 100 male of Panjab University inter college level Kho-Kho players between 18to 25 years of age. These students were Punjab University, Chandigarh. All the players used as subject had participated in the Panjab University inter college Kho-Kho championship for men during the year of The relationships between dependent variable i.e. over all Kho-kho playing ability and independent variables. I.e. motor fitness variables was established by computing Pearson s (sero or der) the combined contribution of all the motor fitness variables to overall Kho- Kho playing ability was obtained through multiple correlations. Results and Discussion Table : 1 RELATIONSHIP PLAYING ABILITY OF MALE KHO-KHO PLAYER TO THE MOTOR FITNESS VARIABLE Criterion Variable Independent Variables Calculated r Playing Ability of male Kho-Kho Agility -0.76* Players Balance -0.84* Co-ordination 0.86* Power 0.81* Reaction time -0.71* Tabulated r = at 98 df (0.05) Table 1 revealed that the attribution variables i.e. agility r = -0.76, balance r = -0.84, co-ordination r = 0.86, power r = 0.81 and reaction time r = were significantly related to the playing ability of male kho-kho players at 0.05 level of the significance since the obtained value were higher than the tabulated value of r df (98) = Agility, co-ordination power were highly correlated with the playing ability of male kho-kho players. To determine the regression equation of motor fitness variables with the playing ability of male khokho players the collected data was analysed using linear regression, using Microsoft Office Professional Plus (Excel)

4 Table 2 SUMMARY OUTPUT Regression Statistics Multiple R R Square Adjusted R Square Standard Error Observations Table 2 shows that R square was when all five predictors were included. Thus means that 92.2% of the variance in the male kho-kho playing ability was associated with changes in the selected motor fitness ability such as agility, balance, co-ordination, power and reaction time. Table 3 ANOVA IN THE REGRESSION df SS MS F Significance F Regression Residual Total In table 3 ANOVA test the null hypothesis that there is no linear relationship between the predictor and the dependent variables. When all the five predictors (motor fitness) were entered, the significance level associated with observed value of F is

5 Table 4 COEFFICIENT IN THE REGRESSION Coefficients Standard Error t Stat P-value Lower 95% Upper 95% Intercept Agility Balance Coordination Power Reaction time Table 4 displays that the value of the coefficient in the regression equation and measures the probability that the linear relationship exists between each predictor variable and the dependent variable. In this table slope of the line, Standard Error of coefficient or B (Beta). Beta ( B ) is the standardized regression coefficient. In this model the P-value of balance, co-ordination and power were zero that means these values less than the 0.05 for the test of null hypothesis except the balance and reaction time. The resulting regression equation is Men s Kho-Kho Playing Ability = (Balance) (Co-ordination) (Power) The equation estimate that for sample survey 92.2% of the variance in dependent variable (Kho-Kho Plying Ability) is explained by the area of motor fitness variables. Conclusion The findings of the discussion are that of the motor fitness variables of Male Kho-Kho players had good power and better reaction time. It has shown that the mean and standard deviation of playing ability of men s Kho-Kho players were better. It is significantly related with the playing ability of Male Kho-Kho players at 0.05 level of the. Agility, balance, co-ordination, power and reaction time were highly correlated with the playing ability of Male Kho-Kho players. There is no linear relationship between the predictor and the dependent variables. When all the five predictors (motor fitness) were entered, the significance level associated with observed. It was further displayed that the value of the coefficient in the regression equation and measures the probability that the linear relationship exists between each predictor variable and the dependent variable. 164
