6 The AFE-INNOVNET thematic network A consortium with 29 partners sharing the same vision and Committed to: Mobilise large numbers of actors Develop methodologies to : Measure the socio-economic impact of their initiatives Facilitate users involvement Set up a repository of good practices Align our work with WHO GNAFCC Launch a Covenant on Demographic Change

8 The Covenant Will be established as an international non-profit association under Belgian law. Will be open to all interested parties: local, regional and national authorities, civil society organisations, industries, research centres and Universities that voluntarily commit to making age-friendly environments a reality in their communities and to share their experience with other Covenant members.

9 The Covenant will build synergies with existing initiatives such as WHO GNAFCC, the WHO European Healthy Cities Network, The Dublin declaration 2013 (vision of the Covenant) National or thematic networks (ex. Réseau francophone des villes amies des ainés) The European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. The EIP on Smart Cities

11 Full Members will have the right to Vote on all governance issues of the Covenant including the election of the President who must come from a full member Get support from the Covenant s secretariat Visibility on the Covenant s website through information/reporting on their action plan, newsletter, blog. For local authorities, right to join the WHO GNAFCC Possibility to participate in activities such as workshops or field visits Partnership opportunities

12 Full Members will have to Accept the Dublin Declaration on AFCC in Europe 2013 as shared values and principles of action; Implement a formal action plan for the promotion of AFE within two years of accession Share information about their action plan with other Members of the Covenant; and Submit annually a progress report on their action plan to the Secretariat.

13 Ordinary members will have the right to vote on governance issues of the Covenant excluding the election of the President who must come from a Full member visibility on the Covenant s website: possibility to upload content and information on the Covenant s website (e.g. feed in the repository of good practices) possibility to participate in activities such as workshops or field visits partnership opportunities

14 Ordinary Members will have to Accept the Dublin Declaration on Age- Friendly Cities and Communities in Europe 2013 as the shared values and principles of action; Support the objectives of the Association; and Share information about its activities on age-friendly environments and cooperate with other Members of the Association.

15 Associate members will have the right to visibility on the Covenant s website: possibility to upload non-commercial content and information on the Covenant s website (e.g. feed in the repository of good practices) possibility to participate in activities such as workshops or field visits partnership opportunities

16 Associate Members will have to Accept the Dublin Declaration on Age- Friendly Cities and Communities in Europe 2013 as the shared values and principles of action; Support the objectives of the Association; and Share information about its activities on age-friendly environments and cooperate with other Members of the Association.

17 Founding members Applicants who join the Covenant before 15 January 2016 will become Founding members. Founding members will have the right to nominate 10 members at the Board of Directors for the first 3 years.

18 The launch of the Covenant 7 December 2015 in Brussels at the Committe of the Regions and with the support of the European Commission => political event, 150 participants 8-9 Decembre 2015 in Brussels in partenarship with regional offices and WHO-Europe => how to develop an cation plan at local/regional level, 100 participants

19 What s next AFE-INNOVNET project will end on 31 January 2016 Need to work on the long-term sustainability Lesson learnt: the Covenant cannot rely on EU project funding for its core activities EP supports our call to the Commission to provide long-term core funding for the Covenant Covenant will be officially established as an international nonfor-profit association under the Belgian to be able to seek EU funding or other sources of funding 2016: minimum activities will be organised through events organised in related fields: Groningen Conference (June), CoR Open Days in October, etc.

20 Members role Members can support the Covenant by providing some contribution in kind (organise a peer review or event in their city/region, set up a joint project with other Covenant members, share their experience) Members can also - if needed - decide to set a limited membership fee to cover basic coordination costs.
