33 My Daily Necessities Things that are IMPORTANT for me to do EVERYDAY for my Recovery + Healing are Other things that I d LIKE to incorporate in my Recovery + Healing (but not necessarily every day) are Examples: Local support groups, monthly spa day/massage/pedicure, acupuncture, art projects, socializing, going to spiritual or religious gatherings, trying new exercises or new things, etc. You get the point, the list is unlimited! 33

37 GIVING + RECEIVING Pray for others and you shall receive as well Pray especially for those who you are resentful or angry with. **When you don t forgive someone I like to say it s like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die It only hurts YOU.** *God,* free me from my resentment toward Please bless. in whatever it is that you know they may be needing this day. 40 AFFIRMATIONS I include a ton of *affirmations* in this workbook and you may not have encountered affirmations or used them in your recovery or life before (if you have, wonderful) but I would like to explain. You may be confused as to why you would want to use affirmations after all, you don t believe these things about yourself and your life yet! Saying affirmations might feel fake or like you re tricking yourself into believing these things about yourself. They might feel scary or uncomfortable when saying them. You might even feel defeated or deflated because your current thoughts are sooo NOT in alignment with these positive and uplifting thoughts. You might believe that these affirmations won t REALLY change you that it s all on a superficial level. Not to worry dear one! I thought the exact same thing. I ll explain everything to you 40

41 I used affirmations in my recovery with astonishing results Old limiting beliefs dissolved before my eyes! My thoughts and thinking *transformed* and my old negative programming was deleted! My actions and behaviors aligned with what I wanted, effortlessly! Suddenly, I believed what I was saying wholeheartedly + felt lit up inside. It was amazing, and I felt amazing You see, when we are in the dysfunctional eating disordered thinking mindset, we are stuck and unable to change. We want to change ourselves and our eating disorder behaviors and ultimately abstain from binging, purging, restricting, dieting, and relieve the obsession with the way our body looks, feels and weighs, but somehow we can t. We don t know how to be anything but what we are right now, believe or think anything but what we re thinking right now, which is eating disordered, controlling, fearful, overwhelmed, anxious, negative, and full of worry, regret, anger, hatred and resentment. Your relationships, environment, and state of mind might be chaotic and uncontrollable. You feel out of control and want some relief from the confusion, the dysfunction that is the eating disorder cycle that you are perpetually stuck in. If you don t change these things that actually caused the eating disorder to occur, well, you ll keep going back to the eating disorder over and over. You ll spend years struggling and battling the eating disorder. 41

42 It is only when we change our present thoughts, habitual thinking patterns and underlying limiting beliefs that open the door for REAL + PERMANENT change and transformation to occur. After applying affirmations and using specific affirmation exercises, it was almost as if I was a new person with a positive mindset and a fresh new perspective on life. I was reborn anew, aglow and sparkling from the inside! The women that I mentor/coach have also had amazing results by simply applying the principles that I am giving you here. I am so happy with the results for that I want to show YOU how to do it too. Key things to remember when using the affirmations included in this guide: o Choose a few positive affirmations that you feel most strongly connected with or that resonate most with you. They should make you feel warm and fuzzy inside as you read them or say them out loud. o o o They should be things that you would immediately like to change or cultivate in your life. Affirmations need to be repeated to yourself, which can be almost like a mantra for your daily life. The best time to do affirmations is immediately in the morning when you wake up or in the evening just before going to bed. 42

43 o You can read them, say them out loud, write them out each times a day, write them on note cards and put them in your wallet, purse or where you can easily read them, you can record them and listen to it, place affirmations in your bathroom or on your phone background, computer station, bedroom, anywhere that you will see and read them often! o Look in the mirror and look yourself in the eyes when saying affirmations especially ones like I love you, I really love you and I deeply and completely love and accept myself exactly as I am o Have FUN with it, get CREATIVE and ENJOY feeling really good feelings!!!!! 49 ABOUT ME My name is Lauren and I have fully recovered from bulimia, anorexia, depression, PTSD, drug addiction and anxiety. I struggled for over 10 years and was absolutely hopeless, in such despair and inner turmoil. I didn t think that I would live through it. I honestly believed that the eating disorder would kill me and I almost died countless times. As I was leaving my third inpatient hospitalization fed up and frustrated, I was told by the hospital program director, RN, and several of the medical staff, You will never make it. They told me I would die if I walked out of those doors. I left AMA (against medical advice) and went home to my (now) husband. He hugged me tight and said we ll get through this together. I wholeheartedly believed him and knew that somewhere within myself I had a seed of hope that one day I would somehow be freed from the ED chains. I never gave up and I vowed within myself that I would fully recover years later I am proud to say that I have kept my promise and have fully recovered from this debilitating and horrifying dis-ease. 50 Now I am married to the love of my life and we share a wonderful life together in San Angelo, Texas with our two amazing children, ages 4 and 2. Now that I don t have an eating disorder I have so much more energy to put towards other things I love, such as my spirituality, marriage, children, yoga, friendships, writing, my business and just having fun and being joyful. Since recovering I have gotten my passion back for life and living. It s amazing but now I love to wake up in the morning and greet the brand new day! I am so grateful to be able to do what I love and stay home to care for and nurture and homeschool my children while also pursuing my dream of being an entrepreneur! Now I am a coach, mentor and healer, teaching women all over the world how to gain freedom and fully recover from their eating disorders!! I can help you learn how to love yourself, make peace with food and feel good about yourself and your body. I can help you heal and transform your life into exactly what you desire it to be, becoming your true authentic self in the process! I am super passionate about your healing and I LOVE sharing my story and message with the world! I want all women who struggle with an eating disorder or body image or eating issues to know that there is a better way to live, that you don t have to be trapped in that never-ending vicious cycle anymore!!!! 50

51 Now what? Make sure to use this Healing Workbook frequently, preferably every day to keep you focused on what s most important in your recovery. Have it printed out and fill out the pages! Do the exercises! Let the words transform your thoughts. Hang the pages up in your house. Laminate them and put them in a binder. Add your own pages to it and make it your own! Do whatever it is that will help you in your recovery, even if it s just a small baby step, just do it NOW!!!!!!!!! Take action towards your dreams today!!
