Maximizing Cardioplegia Coverage Surgical outcomes for arrested heart procedures have been aided by advances in myocardial protection that include antegrade and retrograde cardioplegia, or both. Simultaneously, patients undergoing surgical revascularization are presenting more advanced disease states requiring even greater care in providing this protection.
