Currently, approximately 90% of patients over 50 years of age with prostate cancer have clinically localized disease. 1 Although several treatment options (i.e., external radiotherapy, brachytherapy, or cryotherapy) are available for these patients, radical prostatectomy (RP) is still the gold standard treatment, providing an excellent oncological outcome with a significant survival benefit compared to conservative management options.
