1 The Syllabus of the Therapeutics of Tuina Curricular Code: Curriculum:Therapeutics of Tuina Department: College of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Tuina Category: Required Course Credit Point: 5 Credit Hour: Total:50 Lecture Hours:5 Practice Hours:0 Probation Hour:5 Basal Curriculum: Tuina Manipulations, Manipulations on human body, Meridians-Collaterals and Acupoints, Diagnostics of Traditional Chinese Medicine Students: Undergraduates Majoring in Acumox and TuiNa Assessment Method: Examination Brief Course Introduction: Course Contents: Therapeutics of Clinical Tuina introduces some methods of treating diseases with Tuina therapy which involves multi Chinese and Western medicine syndromes in internal medicine, gynecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics and traumatology as well as EENT. Some clinical practice sessions have been introduced into the course and CAI is provided as a teaching aid. Meanwhile, some clinical internship has also been arranged in the course. I. Preface The Objectives of the Curriculum The curriculum is a required course for undergraduates majoring in Acumox and Tuina. Based on the accomplishment of Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Meridians-Collaterals and Acupoints, Tuina manipulation and other courses, the teaching objective is to enable the students to master the diagnostic methods of Chinese and Western medicine as well as the therapeutic methods of Tuina in common diseases and syndromes. Teaching Requirements The contents of the curriculum involve multi Chinese and Western medicine syndromes in internal medicine, gynecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics and traumatology as well as EENT. Through learning students are required to master the concepts, etiology and pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and Tuina therapeutic methods of common diseases and syndromes. Meanwhile they are required to be acquainted and familiar with the diagnostic methods of Chinese and Western medicine and the therapeutic methods of Tuina in other diseases and syndromes. II. Teaching requirements, Contents and Methods Chapter One General Introduction

2 . To master the therapeutic effects, therapeutic principles and prescriptions of choosing the acupoints of Tuina. 2. To be familiar with the classification of special acupoints and the special acupoints in common use.. To master the common manipulations and acupoints of paediatric Tuina.. The therapeutic effects of Tuina. 2. The therapeutic principles of Tuina.. The prescriptions for choosing acupoints, the classification of special acupoints and the special acupoints in common use. 4. The common manipulation and acupoints of paediatric Tuina Lecture, clinical practice and self-study. Chapter Two Emergency To be acquainted with the concepts and basic Tuina therapeutic methods of stomach convulsion, angina pectoris, biliary colic, colic of urinary system and other and syndromes. The concepts, syndrome differentiation and basic Tuina therapeutic methods of stomach convulsion, angina pectoris, biliary colic, colic of urinary system and other syndromes. Lectures, clinical practice and self-study. Chapter Three Syndromes of Internal Medicine. To be acquainted with the concept and basictuina therapeutic methods of cough, heatstroke, palpitation, apoplexy, hypertension, retention of urine, erectile dysfunction and other syndromes. 2. To be familiar with the concepts, syndrome differentiation and Tuina therapeutic methods of asthma, vomit, singultus, diarrhea, hypochondriac pain, thoracic obstruction and cardiodynia, dizziness.. The concepts, etiology and pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and Tuina therapeutic methods of cold, epiagstric pain, constipation, insomnia, wind syndrome of head, apoplexy of meridians and collaterals, facial neuritis, arthralgia syndrome and flaccidity syndrome. Lectures, clinical practice, CIA supplementary teaching and self-study Chapter Four Syndromes of Gynaecology. To be acquainted with the concepts and basic Tuina therapeutic methods of dysfunctional menstrual disorder, malposition, postpartum fainting, prolapseofuterus, barreness and other syndromes. 2. To be familiar with the concepts, syndrome differentiation and the Tuina therapeutic methods of amenorrhea and the syndrome of intensity before menstruation.. To master the concepts, etiology and pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and basic Tuina therapeutic methods of menoxenia, dysmenorrhea and climacteric syndrome.. The concepts, syndrome differentiations and basic Tuina therapeutic methods of dysfunctional menstrual disorder, malposition, postpartum fainting, prolapseofuterus, barreness and other syndromes. 2. To be familiar with the concepst, syndrome differentiation andttuina therapeutic methods of twitch of eyes, gradual loss of vision, ear distension and deafness and sudden deafness.. To master the concepts, etiology and pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and Tuina therapeutic methods of prolapse of the upper eyelid, myopia, heterotropia, rhinorrhea with turbid discharge, inflammation of the throat and toothache.. The concepts and basic Tuina therapeutic methods of syndrome of cold tears and rhinorrhagia 2. 5 Chapter 8 Syndromes of Orthopedics and Traumatology. To be acquainted with the concepts and Tuina therapeutic methods of tendovaginitis of long head of biceps brachii, subacromial bursitis, medial epicondylitis of humerus, ulnar olecranal bursitis, tendovaginal cyst, sprain and contusion of wrist, sprain and contusion of interphalangeal joint, tendon of flexor digitorum strait tendovaginitis, trauma of collateral knee ligament,trauma of knee meniscus, strain of subpatellar fat-pad, calcaneodynia, thoracic outlet syndrome, joint disorder of posterior thoracic vertebra, lumbar spinal stenosis, trauma of cacroiliac joint, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. 2. To be familiar with the concepts,syndrome differentiation and Tuina therapeutic methods of tendinitis of supraspinatus muscle, stenosal tendosynovitis of styloid process of radius, carpal tunnel syndrome, sprain of ankle, acute lumbar muscle sprain, joint disorder of posterior lumnar, syndrome of third lumbar transverse process, recessive lumbar osteoarthritis, umbar spondylolisthesis and pyriformis syndrome.. To master the concepts,etioloy and pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and Tuina therapeutic methods of periarthritis humeroscapularis, lateral epicondylitis of humerus, hyperplastic gonarthritis, cervical spondylosis, stiff neck, lumbago, strain of lumbar muscles and protrusion of lumbar intervertebral disc.. Application of The Outline. The outline is applied for students majoring in Acupuncture and Tuina as a required course. 2. Chapter should be taught in the first place while the common manipulation and acupoints of paediatric Tuina taught together with Chapter 5(Syndrome of pediatrics), and the order of other teaching contents can be arranged and adjusted..
