1 Standard Hip Precautions TOTAL HIP - 4 Ankle Pump not bend your operative hip beyond a 90 degree angle. not sit with your legs crossed or lie on your back with your operative leg crossed over the other leg. not rotate your hip inward. Follow these precautions until your doctor states otherwise. Bend ankles to move feet up and down, alternating feet. TOTAL HIP - 1 Quad Set TOTAL HIP - 2 Gluteal Squeeze Slowly tighten muscles on thigh of straight leg while counting out loud to. with other leg. Gently bring leg back to pillow. with other leg. TOTAL HIP - Hamstring Set TOTAL HIP - 3 Short Arc Quad Bend operative leg slightly, dig your heel into the bed surface without bending knee further. Lie on back with knees bent, feet shoulder width apart. Tighten buttocks and lift hips toward ceiling. Slowly lower. TOTAL HIP (ADVANCED) - 13 Abduction SITTING - 11 Toe Up Lie on non-operative side with a pillow placed between your thighs. Slowly lift operative leg towards ceiling, keeping toes pointed straight ahead. Slowly lower. Note: not use an ankle weight unless instructed to do so by your therapist. times each leg. Using support, gently rise up on toes and rock back on heels. KNEE - 2 Knee Bend GAIT - 9 Leg Stand Holding a chair for balance, stand with feet shoulder width apart, slowly bend knees.
