1 Evolve Resources First- Add the Pediatric Evolve Resources for your text Go to your Evolve page (evolve.elsevier.com) and log in Click Evolve Catalog in the center of the page In the search box at the top, type in Hockenberry and click Go Find the correct edition of the text (Wong s Essentials of Pediatric Nursing by Hockenberry..10 th edition!) and click on the Resources for that text Click on the Register button Click on the Redeem/Check-out button Check the Yes, I accept the registered user agreement box Click Submit Your book will now be added! Accessing Resources from the Hockenberry Text Resources A. Critical Thinking Case Studies: These deal with a variety of the topics we will be covering. (eg. Asthma). With every topic there are only 4 or 5 questions to drive home the important points. I think they give the rationales too! Find the Hockenberry text and click on it Click on the chapter of the text you want (see list attached) Click on Student Resources Click on Case Studies The link to the case studies follows
2 B. NCLEX Review Questions: These are questions (obviously) set up just like the NCLEX format, but related only to pediatrics. There are about 15 questions on each topic. After completion, it reviews all the questions and gives the right answers and rationales. Find the Hockenberry text and click on it Click on the chapter of the text you want (there are NCLEX questions for every chapter) Click on Student Resources Click on Prepare for Exams C. HESI Case Studies (for course points) Completion of two case studies is required for points in this course. As previously mentioned in class, it is advisable to watch the lecture and do your readings before attempting the case studies. In this way they will be a reinforcing activity. Getting a score of 35% means you haven t retained the major concepts of the topic, and might reflect poor performance on your final exam and/ or the NCLEX exam. Scroll down to HESI RN Case Studies With Practice Test and click on it Click on the HESI Case Studies link Click on Pediatrics Select your case and begin. Remember, you can do a case more than once!
