5 Explanation Learning outcomes are defined as statements of what a learner knows, understands and is able to do upon completion of a learning process. A LEARNING OUTCOME IS ON A LOWER ABSTRACTION LEVEL THAN A COMPETENCE. THE LEARNING OUTCOME CAN BE A MEASURABLE PART OF A COMPETENCE: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CAN MEASURE OR TEST A LEARNING OUTCOME IN AN ASSIGNMENT/ASSESSMENT SETTING: In the EQF, learning outcomes are therefore defined in terms of knowledge, skills and competence which are understood as follows: "Knowledge means the outcome of the assimilation of information through learning. Knowledge is the body of facts, principles, theories and practices related to a field of work or study. In the context of the European Qualifications Framework, knowledge is described as theoretical and/or factual." "Skills means the ability to apply knowledge and use know-how to complete tasks and solve problems. In the context of the European Qualifications Framework, skills are described as cognitive or practical skills." "Competence means the proven ability to use knowledge, skills and personal, social and methodological abilities in work or study situations and in professional and/or personal development. In the context of the European Qualifications. A COMPETENCE IS ON A HIGH ABSTRACTION LEVEL: WITHIN OUR COURSES, OUR STUDENTS WILL NOT NECESSARILY MASTER THE WHOLE COMPETENCE: (For example: being a competent driver)
