2 LBJ Chief of Staff Disaster Plan 2015 Table of Contents I. Overview II. III. RIDE OUT / RECOVERY INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURE
3 Overview In the event of a disaster/hurricane occurring at LBJ, the Medical Staff is responsible for providing appropriate coverage and caring for the patients that are here at LBJ. It is also the responsibility of the Medical Staff to evaluate patients that can be safely discharged or transferred when appropriate prior to the disaster/hurricane occurring. In the specific event of a hurricane, the following services will be required to have appropriate faculty and resident coverage during the "Ride Out" portion of the hurricane. This will be based on the monthly call schedule. The services will also be required to have "Recovery Teams" assigned to come relieve the "Ride Out" team when that time occurs. Emergency Medicine/ Trauma Internal Medicine/ Hospitalists/ ICU Family Medicine Pediatrics Anesthesia Surgery OB/Gyn Radiology/Pathology All of the other services not needed to appropriately cover the above areas are not required to "Ride Out" the storm at LBJ (for example- consulting services, Neurology, Ophthalmology, etc.). All services will be required to provide normal coverage once the situation moves to "Recovery". All services must submit their most current call schedules to the Chief of Staff (COS) Office in the event a hurricane is in the Gulf of Mexico in order to ensure we are aware who should be in house as part of the "ride out" teams. Also, the services are required to give the planned numbers of Faculty and s, along with names and contact numbers, to cover both the Ride Out and Recovery portions of the event. The COS will be a part of the incident command during a hurricane and is part of the Ride Out team. The Community Health Program Clinics and outpatient clinics at LBJ will be closed in the event of a hurricane or disaster.
