1 How to Treat Insomnia Using Hydrotherapy
2 Insomnia is one of the most common disorders in the modern world. Whether the cause of your insomnia is a habit like drinking caffeine or due to a stressful environment, hydrotherapy has long been a well-known solution. Since the late 1800s, doctors have been prescribing hydrotherapy as a natural, drug-free insomnia treatment. If falling asleep at night is a problem for you, relaxing in a hot tub is an excellent option. Our Insomnia Guide will fully explain how to best use your hot tub to help soothe your body and de-stress your mind. Get to Sleep Faster A hot tub is an exceptional remedy for insomnia. By simply raising and then lowering your body temperature before you go to bed, you'll fall asleep more quickly. According to experts, if you raise your body temperature by just one to two degrees, it will drop more quickly once you get in bed. If you soak in a hot tub for 20 minutes two hours before falling asleep, you'll fall asleep faster and enter a deeper state of sleep. In conjunction with using a hot tub, you can achieve better sleep by turning off lights, decreasing your thermostat temperature, and avoiding caffeine. Relax Your Body and Mind If your body is stressed and can't relax, it makes it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep. During hydrotherapy, hot water encourages blood circulation and the water's buoyancy reduces your body weight substantially. This reduces pressure on muscles and joints. The jets' massaging action also helps to alleviate stiffness and soreness. Aromatherapy, especially with calming scents like vanilla, jasmine, lavender, vanilla, and clary sage, can also add to your relaxation experience and encourage sleep.
3 Sleep is Crucial for Good Health Sleep affects all of your body's systems. It regulates everything from physical and mental health to weight and immunity. Taking just 20 minutes to soak in your hot tub one to two hours before bed will help you get the sleep you need and improve how you feel the next day. During your soak, make sure to stay hydrated by drinking enough water. It's also important to keep the water temperature at 104 degrees Fahrenheit or below. The National Sleep Foundation also advises against going to bed if you are still hot from your soak. How Hydrotherapy Alleviates Insomnia It has been scientifically proven that hydrotherapy is one of the best natural methods for relieving insomnia. Hydrotherapy, including saunas, hot water baths, and hot tubs, treats insomnia through a combination of mechanisms. The body's reaction to hot and cold stimuli, water pressure, and extended periods of exposure to heat all create the sleep response. Hydrotherapy also targets some of the most common causes of insomnia including stress, pain, and poor circulation. Not only will soaking in a hot tub help relax your body, but it will also improve your circulation and reduce pain. Hot tub use can even stimulate endorphin production, which naturally prevents your brain from responding to stress and pain, while controling tension and headaches. Even after your hot tub session is over, endorphins can help you sleep. Using a hot tub in combination with saunas, underwater baths, mud, mineral soaks, Epsom salt, and herbs will be especially helpful for insomnia that is caused by stress. Hydrotherapy can also be used to treat other ailments including arthritis, muscle cramps, muscle tension, and knots that can stop you from getting to sleep. Other Tips for Better Sleep Better sleep can be best achieved through a combination of lifestyle choices. Eating lighter evening meals, avoiding stimulants like caffeine and chocolate, and finding ways to mentally and physically relax before bed will all work in conjunction to create better sleep.
4 Hot Tub Settings and Timing The Science of Immersion ZONE 3 First, choose a gentle massage cycle to help you relax. Hydropool hot tubs have specific programs for different ailments, including insomnia that you can select. The information below will help you use any type of hot tub to help you sleep. 5 Enhance Relaxation With Aromatherapy and Chromatherapy Aromatherapy options such as chamomile, lemongrass and bergamot can also help you relax. Aromatherapy stimulates the olfactory system as well as the limbic system, which deals with our emotions. You can find specific aromatherapy options made for hot tubs in a variety of scents that have been created especially to assist with relaxation. Light therapy, also known as chromatherapy, is a well-known holistic healing method that can also help you relax. Different people may respond differently to different colors, but the green color setting is specifically designed to help you relax and improve your sleep. Lock in on this setting to stimulate your back and relax you fully to help you sleep. With these tips, you should now have a good sense of how to use your hot tub to effectively improve your insomnia and help you get the sleep you need. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a wet test, call Hydropool at Ext 509 or inquiries@hydropoolhottubs.com.
