In collaboration with researchers from Brown and Harvard Universities and the University of Massachusetts Boston, gathered stakeholder input on potential quality measures to be included in a nursing home pay-for-performance program in Washington State. Developed interview protocol and led analysis and write-up of qualitative findings. American Cancer Society (ACS) Washington, DC Manager, Global Tobacco Control July 07 to November 10 Manager, Emerging Science and Trends December 05 to July 07 Led the Society s tobacco control activities in Latin America, including commissioning the first formal study on the economic and policy implications of tobacco in Mexico. Oversaw the programmatic and strategic evaluation of the Global Smokefree Partnership, a multi-partner initiative formed to promote effective smokefree air policies worldwide. Developed curricula for and facilitated trainings on smokefree worksites for tobacco control advocates in Latin America and the Caribbean. Authored a guide to assist companies in implementing and enforcing a smokefree worksite policy. The guide has been translated into Chinese, French, Portuguese, and Spanish and used throughout Asia, Latin America, and North Africa. Launched a campaign to promote the implementation of smokefree policies in Chinese and Indian worksites. Designed, tested, and oversaw the administration of a survey assessing tobacco control policy and wellness programs at 61 worksites in China. Secured the commitment of 73 companies in China and over 40 companies in India to go smoke free. Celebrated their commitment by organizing three press events, one of which took place at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and generated 65 pieces of media coverage in the month following the event. Planned the ceremonies for the 2006 and 2009 Luther L. Terry Awards, the Society s signature award for tobacco control excellence. Organized the presence of senior level officials, including former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop. Developed communications materials related to the events. Managed the Society s global tobacco control grants program, which included 211 grantees in 78 countries. Launched the Special Opportunity and Regional grants programs to address the need for rapid response funding and funding to support regional coordination.
3 Page 3 of 8 Conducted literature reviews on various national and global tobacco control topics, including tobacco use among U.S. youth and young adults and smokefree policies in Latin America. McLean, VA Senior Management Analyst August 04 to October 05 Management Analyst June 03 to August 04 Conducted over 200 in-depth interviews with consumers and health care providers to test and provide recommendations on Medicare-related messages and communications. Final materials were distributed to millions of Medicare beneficiaries. Developed Medicare marketing guidelines and model marketing documents for use by nearly 100 prescription drug plans in preparation for the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit. Supervised the review of marketing materials related to the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit. Trained and managed a team of seven reviewers. Managed all aspects of the engagement setup and implementation process, including overseeing budgets and managing vendors.
