1 Graphic Assets Library READY BUT LIMITED The Graphic Assets Library is a repository of reusable images that are meant to enhance patient understanding through visual communication. Currently the Graphic Assets Library includes a series of icons that have previously been used in BMS patient materials. As more patient communications are created using the UPL we expect to reuse existing images, but also create new ones as needed. Graphic Assets Library icons are available in PNG (rasterized) format for easy inclusion in any patient communication materials. This document contains examples of icons that will be contained in the Graphic Assets Library more graphic assets will continue to be added on an ongoing basis. 1

5 GRAPHIC ASSETS LIBRARY: FAQ GAL Frequently Asked Questions When is it appropriate to use icons from the Graphic Assets Library? Icons are a great way to make dense text easier to navigate by improving scannability, or to help divide content into digestible sections. These icons should always be accompanied by labels or relevant text, to clarify and reinforce their meaning. Icons should be used in situations that require only a simple level of visual explanation. Diagrams or illustrations are more appropriate for explaining more complex concepts. Can I mix icon styles? Using a single style of icon will help to maintain visual consistency. The icons in the Graphic Assets Library have been designed with the same visual style, and can be used in any combination. A lack of visual consistency could make a piece more confusing for patients, or could diminish its perceived credibility. Can I change the color of the icons? You can change the color of monochrome icons to match your materials. It is recommended that you select a single color for consistency across icons. 5
