2 Protective Factors Protective factors buffer youth from a number of negative health outcomes. Identifying and understanding protective factors are equally as important as researching risk factors. 3 Results: Denver Youth Protective Factors Connectedness to an adult outside the family In Denver, 81% of youth felt like they had a chance to talk to a teacher one on one Commitment to school 87% felt like it was very important to finish high school Ability to discuss problems with parents 81% of youth could ask a parent or guardian for help
