1 Parent Guide to Selected Substance Abuse Intervention Resources This is a compilation of information provided as a service and not an endorsement of any specific organization, facility or service. For families with insurance, it is necessary to call your insurance company to inquire about what is covered under your individual policy for drug/alcohol screenings, assessments, and treatment. This information was provided by the facility in August Any information is subject to change. Dear Parent/Guardian, If you suspect that your child is using drugs or alcohol, take action. You and your family are not alone. There are many options to seek help for your family or teen. Substance abuse issues are often addressed through a combination of approaches, so it s essential to find out what help is needed and available before you intervene. Effective intervention includes physical, psychological, emotional and social concerns and will involve family members. In most cases a good screening or evaluation can help you determine what types of resources are needed. For families with insurance, please call your own insurance company to inquire about what is covered under your individual policy for drug/alcohol screening, assessments, and treatment. If you have additional questions or to get further information about resources, please call your school s mental health staff, counselor, or dean or the District Health and Wellness Office at
2 How to Use This Resource Look through all the resources to decide which ones might best fit your needs. Go to the resource s website, if available, for additional information. Choose a few resources that fit your needs. Always call more than one resource to make sure you have explored your options. Check carefully into each resource before making a final decision. Make a first appointment to learn more about the fit of the resource to your family. The more involved you are in the assessment and treatment process, the greater the likelihood of success. Cherry Creek Schools does not endorse any of the listed organizations, facilities, or services. It is your responsibility to carefully check each resource to make an informed decision on appropriate treatment.
