1 GOALS / OBJECTIVES / TACTICS A-Team Strategic Plan DRAFT Mission: The A-Team is a collaborative membership comprising UW staff, faculty, students, and invested citizens in the Laramie community whose mission is to develop, recommend, and assess best practices in policy, prevention / intervention, and enforcement to reduce underage drinking and excessive alcohol use. Year Year Year Year Year Evaluation Plan (Process, Impact, Outcome) Goal #1: Decrease high-risk drinking among UW students. Objective #1a : Decrease the UW binge drinking rate by 25% by 2013 Tactic a: Advocate for funding for A-Team to promote, implement, and evaluate best practices in the safe, legal, and responsible use of alcohol X X Tactic b: Provide mini-grant funding opportunities to student organizations for alcohol education activities. X X X X X Tactic c: Support/Advocate for alcohol-free alternative activities/events X X X X X Tactic d: Investigate the feasibility of systematic alcohol screenings in campus departments (UCC, SHS, Athletics, Greeks) X Tactic e: If determined to be feasible, implement systematic screening for alcohol in campus departments (UCC, SHS, Athletics, Greeks,etc.) X X X X (Outcome) Compare binge drinking data via NCHA survey every two years (P) Funding allocated to A-Team (P) Mini-grant budget designated for alcohol education activities (P) Number of alcoholfree activities A-Team is involved with (P) PDSA tests conducted in each area. 2 Goal #2. Reduce secondary negative effects of alcohol abuse among UW students. Objective #2a : By 2013 decrease the percentage of UW students reporting driving after 5 or more drinks in the past 30 days by 25%. Objective #2b: By 2013 decrease the percentage of UW students reporting driving after any alcohol in the past 30 days by 25%. Objective #2c : By 2013 decrease the percentage of UW students reporting alcohol negatively impacting their academics to by 25%. 3 Goal #3: Increase UW students knowledge, awareness, and skills about the safe, legal, and responsible use of alcohol. Objective #3a : By 2013, UW will have institutionalized funding to sustain a required level of competency regarding alcohol knowledge, awareness, and skills for all incoming UW students. 5 Goal #5: Collect, compile, analyze data on alcohol use among students to assist with needs assessments, strategic planning, and evaluation. Objective #5a : Every two years the UW A-Team will present data on UW student drinking behavior.
