8 Title: Mechanisms of addiction: Examining psychological, genetic, and contextual risk factors for substance use disorders. The goal of this NIH Loan Repayment project is to better understand risk factors for the development of substance use disorders in young adulthood through the use of secondary analyses of a longitudinal high-risk sample. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Predoctoral Fellowship This study used measures of multiple response systems to examine the impact of alcohol on social bonding during an initial group interaction. The primary goal was to determine if persons with polymorphic variation in genes associated with increased risk for alcohol use disorder are more sensitive to alcohol's rewarding effects in a social setting.
