1 CCEB Examinations Report University of Western States December 2017
2 CCEB EXAMINATIONS REPORT PAGE 1 Office of the Chief Academic Officer Candidate Performance on CCEB Examinations October 2016 to June 2017 CCEB administers three examinations: s A, B and C. A and B examinations are multiple choice. C is in the format of an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). three examinations are provided at each sitting (October, February and June) during the exam year. The test specifications for these examinations are based on a national job analysis. The job analysis provided evidence of the frequency and criticality of patient presentations seen in practice across Canada. This information was used to identify the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes required in daily practice. The test specifications identify the behaviours, patient presentations, and weighting within the examinations. Test specifications are reviewed and minor revisions made as required to remain current with Canadian practice. Information on exam content can be found on the website at First-time examination takers are the best indicator of performance on the examinations. Repeat examination takers are not included because they are more likely to remain unsuccessful in further attempts. Therefore, repeat candidates are included only in Table 1 General Statistics. Experienced practitioners and recertification candidates who were exempt from A are not included in any of the tables. Further, as would be expected, there is generally a correlation between GPA and performance on the examinations. unsuccessful candidates are provided with a Performance Report and encouraged to review it with their DC Program to develop a program of study for future examination preparation. The following charts provide information on the performance of candidates from your DC Program compared to those from other programs, identified as Canadian, USA, and International. Table 1 Table 2 Table 3 Table 4 Shows the number and percentage of successful candidates. This is based on all candidates. Shows pass numbers and percentages by GPA for Canada and USA. These are based on all first-time examination takers. International programs are not shown because they do not have GPA systems comparative to Canada and USA. Shows pass rates by individual Behaviour (previously Content Area). These are based on all first-time examination takers. Shows fail rates by individual Patient Presentation. These are based on all first-time examination takers. I trust this information may be of assistance to you. Sincerely, Patricia D. Frank Chief Executive Officer
