1 Anchor Text Balance Guidelines 2017 As a guideline, you should focus your anchor text balance conservatively. You should be focusing your anchor text to come from high quality same niche sites. You should focus on building high quality link structures as detailed in the SBT training. This will keep your direct backlink count low and your quality high, which is what you should be aiming for. Big word of advice Avoid using money key phrases or phrases that include any of your money phrase words. These should only be used once really, and only on your most powerful post or link structure. The table below will provide outline guidance on this. Google gives sites a quality score. We never know that score, but part of that score is a trust rating. If you use money anchor text on your site and your site is not trusted by Google, then you could find it placed in to a stealth penalty, and your site may not rank beyond page 2 in such instances.
2 If your site is less than 12 months old, it is unlikely that Google will have a very high trust of your site unless you have achieved impressive nonmoney phrase authority backlinks, and you have a ton of natural traffic with great analytic metrics. If this is your site, then you should follow column A If your site is older than 5 years old or more, then you should follow column B If your site is more than 12 months old and less than 5 years old, then take your percentage of anchor text between the figures shown in column A & B, and round the figure to the nearest whole number. So for example, if your site is 3 years old, and column A shows a particular anchor text type as and column B shows that anchor text type as 2%, your anchor text for that type of anchor text would be 1.2%, and rounding to the nearest whole figure makes it. So this means that for every 100 backlinks, that anchor text type should only be used 1 time. The way to calculate the percentages for sites between 1 and 5 years old is divide the percentage shown in column B by 5, and then multiply that figure by the age of your site. So if the percentage is 2% and the site age is 3 years, this is the calculation: - 2% x 3 = 1.2% Round To The Nearest Whole Number = 5 Now age of a domain doesn t determine Google trust, so just because your site may be 5 years old for example, doesn t mean Google is then rating your site highly with Google trust. However, if you have done things right, then your site will have gained vast more trust than a site in its infancy. We have to make assumptions, so please bear this in mind when selecting your anchor text percentages, and if in doubt, assume that your site has a low Google Trust score Note: in the table below and for the anchor text reference, I am using the following: - as the domain example Diet Doctor as the brand

5 GUIDELINE NOTES: 1. The percentages above are guideline percentages, and not critical to be totally exact. 2. If you add up the percentages in either column A or B, they don t add up to 10. The percentages shown in the columns on page 4 are minimums, so you can increase the percentages of any of those anchor text types listed on that page. The anchor text percentages that are shown on page 3 are maximum percentages, and these should not be exceeded IMPORTANT CONCLUDING INFORMATION If you have, or you aim to make your anchor text meet these percentages, you will have a good profile, and you won t have to be concerned about getting a Stealth or Penguin penalty on your site. People tend to think that they have to use their money phrase anchor text or else they won t rank, but this is simply NOT the case. A post can rank without having any money phrase anchor text. It is true, that a money phrase anchor text is more powerful than other anchor text, but all other anchor texts carry ranking power, and are essential to have to avoid penalty from Google. It is very important therefore, that you reserve any keyphrase related anchor text type as shown in the columns of page 3 for your most powerful posts that point directly to your money site. The most powerful posts will be the posts on the tier 1 level of your most powerful link structures that we cover in module 4 of SEO Breakthrough
