3 About Wurli Wurlinjang Wurli Wurlinjang Health Services is an Aboriginal Medical Service in Katherine Northern Territory. Established almost 40 years ago, Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service is one of Australia s most mature and experienced Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs). We provide holistic health services to Indigenous clients and visitors living in and around Katherine. Wurli Services Aboriginal people living in the Katherine township and small Communities located within a 40km radios of the town centre The largest community is Mialli Brumby which is also know as Kalano which in on the north bank of the Katherine River in close proximity to the Katherine Township. Rockhole community is also along the northern banks of the Katherine River situated 15km from the town centre. Wurli Wurlinjang also has a Health Centre in Binjari Community which is also 15km form Katherine Township on the Southern banks of the Katherine River Wurli also services smaller living areas Geyulkgan Ngurro (Walpiri Camp), and Gorge Camp (Jodetluk) Wurli-Wurlinjang Aboriginal Health Service 3

4 Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Program Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) service endeavours to provide a holistic and culturally appropriate drug and alcohol rehabilitation services for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the Katherine region. AOD services are provided to assist in the reduction of the harmful impacts that Alcohol and other Drug misuse/ abuse has on other individuals and family safety, community well-being, as well as contributing towards the health outcomes for individual clients. 6 About Wurli Wurlinjang Wurli Wurlinjang Community Services consist of 5 program Strongbala Justice Receives referrals from legal services such as NAAJA and NT Legal Aid Commission. Strongbala deliver a 13 week Personal Development Program (PDP) Katherine Individual Support Program (KISP) New program started in February, To engage disadvantage and vulnerable people with their Primary Health, family, and country. To provide culturally secure and respectful care and to advocate. Wellbeing (Social & Emotional and Mental Health) Dynamic counselling service that works under the cultural frame work of Social and Emotional wellbeing Strong Indigenous Families (SIF) SIF Aims is to reduce the impacts of family and domestic and violence against women and children. SIF also aims to help keep Indigenous families together and safe. SIF also offer individual, group therapy, as well as whole family counselling for women, children and men.
