4 Introduction Following another fruitful year and with Ramadan approaching soon, it is with great joy that we would like to share with you the differences and impact your help has made over the last year on those here in the UK as well as those much further away. Being true to our vision, we have not only carried on with our global services; targeting disaster and conflict stricken areas such as Burma, Syria, Gaza, Kashmir, Nepal where not only the economy has plummeted but the probability of seeing a new day is in jeopardy, but have also continued to work closer to home by engaging our youth to help many of those nearby us as well as supporting local charities. This report provides a brief snapshot of some of the programmes our organisation has been able to accomplish through your support. We, on behalf of the Trust, would like to express our sincere gratitude to volunteers, members, community and everyone else who has made our projects a possibility and successful through continuous prayers, assistance and generous financial contributions. We hope that the upcoming year is just as prosperous if not more, and ask for you to continue to help those less fortunate than us through any means possible. 5 Thank You for Supporting us! We would like to thank all our supporters who have continuously given wholeheartedly. Here are some of the local businesses that have gone beyond the call of duty. 5

6 Burma The Muslim population of Mayanmar has been exposed to discrimination and persecution due to their race and religion for decades, however the situation took a turn for the worse in early Thousands of people had to flee the country for self-preservation and over 240,000 people have been internally displaced. Villages have been burnt and with very few neighbouring countries willing to help, acquiring the basic necessities such as food, water and shelter has now become a major battle for the Burmese Muslims. The Burmese pleas for help did not go unheard. With your help through generous donations and the car wash initiative held on 11th July 2015 during Ramadan, we managed to raise a substantial amount which has helped make a significant difference to those in need. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed and also to those who gave their time to make the car wash a successful event. Total

7 Assam With the heavy rainfall in Assam, severe floods have been the cause of thousands of deaths, numerous landslides, road blockages, crop destruction and much more. Over 1.65 million people in over 21 districts have been affected. For some, the possibility of returning to their villages does not exist. The very land on which their homes, fields and villages stood has been washed away. Those who have not been able to make their way to relief camps have been surviving on limited food, water and shelter and with aid being so far away their chances of seeing another day wither away. Through your help the LIA Relief Trust has not only been able to provide basic essentials to the people of Assam but also given to those who have lost their families in this tragedy, a home to help rebuild their life. 8 Syria to Calais For nearly half a decade Syria has become a war zone and death has become a normal occurrence. Those who have stayed behind in this conflict area risk losing their lives every day whilst those who have managed to flee have nothing with them. The people of Syria have fled to many places across Europe including Calais. The LIA Relief Trust alongside Madani Schools Federation led a joint initiative in September 2015 to assist those taking refuge in Calais. For two weeks students and the community were invited and encouraged to leave items at Madani Schools Federation to aid the refugees. Items such as food, clothing, bedding, essentials and much more were collected. With all the generous contributions made, several loaded vans were able to cross the border. We were extremely delighted to see not only volunteers but members of the community including youths taking such an active involvement with the project, which resulted in a great success. On behalf of the refugees we express our deepest appreciation to all those who have made it a possibility for them to continue surviving. Total

9 Nepal Following the recent earthquakes that hit Nepal in April and May 2015, thousands have been killed and many of the 6.6 million residents have been displaced. It has been recorded as one of the worst earthquakes to strike the Nepal area since Life for those affected has been in disarray ever since, however your donations have helped to bring about a positive change and given people a chance to rebuild their lives. How your donations helped: - Provision of food packages for families - Towards construction of homes for those without shelter - Assisting with their education - Provision of medical supplies for those injured Total

10 Kashmir, Wolfrun and Our Children Our Ummah (OCOU) Kashmir has also been another area affected by natural disaster over the last few years. Barely recovering from the torrential rain in September 2014, the 2015 spring rainfall resulted in water levels reaching astounding levels and some even above the danger mark. Homes were destroyed, food and plantations were washed away, families were torn apart and just like the millions in Nepal, thousands were displaced. Having nowhere to go or stay, the people of Kashmir were in desperate need of aid. The LIA Relief Trust teamed up with OCOU who are another organisation focusing on helping children and families in need of aid. Through this collaboration, we provided much needed essentials to those displaced. In addition to your substantial donations, members of the LIA Relief Trust team took part in the Wolfrun sponsorship which consists of a 10km run across raw natural terrain including woodland, lakes and open ground as well as facing sets of natural and artificial obstacles. Our volunteers thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this cross country run as well as helping to make a difference for those in disaster struck areas. Your donations helped towards: - Construction of brick homes for the homeless - Medical supplies to those injured in the floods - Providing blankets to those displaced - Emergency food packages for families Total

11 Local UK Charities Aside from working on a global level, the LIA Relief Trust believes very much in the phrase charity starts at home. Therefore, as well as assisting those far away we also aim to provide some support to our local charities closer to home and have donated to several charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support, Rainbows Hospice, Marie Curie and many more. Alongside, the LIA Relief Trust has visited charities across Leicester such as the British Heart Foundation whose research and support helps thousands suffering from heart disease, Barnardos who provide care and support to vulnerable children, Kemp Hospice in Kidderminster who work with families of the deceased as well as the Children s Leukaemia and Cancer Group that are based in the heart of Leicester s Royal infirmary dedicated to helping children diagnosed with Leukaemia. 12 Qurbani 2015 Every year many of us look forward to the Eid celebration as well as all the food involved. Sadly for many across the globe, this day is no different to the rest of the year, living and surviving off the bare food they can afford. Through your Qurbani this year, many less fortunate were able to enjoy a share of fresh meat and mark this day as a celebration for themselves also. Total

13 Abrar Orphanage The heart of every child longs for a home. Not just for food and a place to sleep, but for safety, family and a sense of belonging. The Abrar Orphanage is an independent and non-governmental organisation that provides family-based care for over 100 orphans and abandoned children in India. With your help, The LIA Relief Trust has been able to work collaboratively with The Abrar Orphanage recently in helping them with: - Upkeep of the current building including educational and residential facilities - Basic provisions of food and clothing for orphans - Medical supplies The LIA Relief Trust Sincerely thanks all of the donors who helped providing a safer and a more welcoming home for these orphans. 14 Syria & Gaza - Ramadan 2015 After becoming a war zone and area of continuous conflict, the people of Syria and Gaza were and are still in desperate need for all the help they can get. The once thriving lands now seem to mirror each other with the need of all the essentials and more. Your donations have helped provide: - Food parcels for displaced families - Clean water supplies - Medical aid for the injured - Psychological support - Hygiene and incubator provisions Total

15 Madinatul Uloom Kidderminster Being one of the earliest Islamic boarding education centres established in the UK, Madinatul Uloom has become a legacy in itself. Hundreds of students have flourished, graduated from here and made great achievements and we hope that many more will also continue to do so. The need to provide additional educational provision and space to enhance provision had become pressing and could not go unnoticed. We at the LIA Relief Trust teamed up with the Madinatul Uloom to assist in this noble cause and help create a positive difference. Total FOOD Drive 2015 Thirteen million people live below the poverty line in the UK, with individuals going hungry every day for a range of reasons. The LIA Relief Trust worked with Madani Schools Federation, Eat n Meet and the local community to help accomplish an annual food drive to support the hungry. Collectively, the charity, school and the local community managed to raise a record of 4 tonnes of food for the homeless, elderly and women refuge shelters. Over 4 Tonnes was collected in forms of Tinned food, Flour, Oil, Sugar, Pasta and much more. 15
