New investigational medicine in development by GSK and MMV may help eradicate P.vivax malaria. Requires knowledge of patient s G6PD status prior to administering medicine. G6PD Reader BD in collaboration with PATH and GSK is developing novel low-cost POC instrument to detect G6PD deficiency. Funded by PATH and GSK with support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and UK Department for International Development (DFID). Coordinating patient access plans with GSK, PATH, MMV and Gates foundation.
