1 Prishtina Kosovo on February 13-14, 2013 and in Tirana Albania on February 15-16, 2013 EPOS REGIONAL CORE CURRICULUM COURSES Prishtina Kosovo on February 13-14, 2013 and in Tirana Albania on February 15-16, 2013 Coordinated by: Dr. (Israel) with local hosts Dr. Cen Bytyqi (Kosovo) Dr. Edvin Selmani and Dr. Neritan Borici (Albania)
2 EPOS Regional Core Curriculum Courses One of the main goals of EPOS is to provide basic education in Pediatric Orthopedics. This is especially important in areas where pediatric orthopedics has not yet branched off as a distinct subspecialty and children are treated by general orthopedists or trauma surgeons. It is with this in mind that EPOS has initiated a program of core curriculum courses in pediatric orthopedics to be given in various regions on the peripheries of Europe. The goal is to target a region and give 2-3 consecutive courses in neighboring countries, thus exposing a maximal number of orthopedic surgeons to the knowledge. The program includes a core curriculum covering all aspects of pediatric orthopedics within the time constraint of a two day course. The representatives of the host countries are consulted during preparation of the program and adjustments are made to fit local preferences and needs. The first region targeted for the program is southeastern Europe where two consecutive two day courses will be given: In Prishtina Kosovo on February 13-14, 2013 and in Tirana Albania on February 15-16, The program is being coordinated by Dr. (Israel) with local hosts Dr. Cen Bytyqi (Kosovo) and Drs. Edvin Selmani and Neritan Borici (Albania). The faculty includes Prof. (Turkey), Dr. Deborah Eastwood (UK), Dr. (Switzerland), and Dr. (Netherlands). There will be joint panels with local faculty and interactive case discussions with the participants giving a bilateral teaching and learning experience to all those involved in the project. Future courses are being planned in other regions around Europe as well as in developing countries and EPOS members will be encouraged to take part in these courses. As many of the EPOS members have been active over the years volunteering their time, knowledge and expertise, teaching surgeons and treating patients around the globe both as individuals as well as in various frameworks and organizations, the current initiative will give us an opportunity to combine this activity with the goals of EPOS., MD President of EPOS
