7 Mode of action: stimulation of the appetite center The molecules contained in OPTIFEED stimulates the appetite center. Initiation of hormonal secretions that prepare the organism to absorb nutrients. The animal eat. 7

8 Mode of action: stimulation of the appetite center Feed intake induces a hormonal feed back which stimulates the satiety center. The animal stops eating because the needs of the organism are satisfied. 8

15 Materials and methods Duration: 48 days (from day 1 to slaughter) Animals: 440 birds, 1 day old, Cobb female 5 groups, 4 replication pens Each pen: 22 birds Slaughtered at 48 days Feed: water and feed ad libtum, experimental diets = minimum requirements recommended by Rostagno et al (2011) Pre-starter: 1 7 days Starter: 7 21 days Grower: days Finisher: days Organization: 5 groups (OPTIFEED POULTRY at 500 g/t) 1: control (without Optifeed Poultry) 2: Optifeed Poultry from 1 to 7 days 3: Optifeed Poultry from 1 to 21 days 4: Optifeed Poultry all the period 5: Optifeed Poultry from 1 to 7 days, and from 42 to 48 days 15

16 Mesures Weight gain per bird: weighed every week Feed intake per bird: for each pen and each group, weekly Feed conversion Viability: dead birds were recorded daily Analysis of variance: Tukey test at 5% significance level except Viability, by chi-sqare test 16

17 Results a, b P<0.05 Optifeed Poultry significantly increased feed intake and performances during the first week. 17

18 Results Treatment Control Optifeed Poultry Weight at 14 days (g) a b Value of p CV % 7.79 At 14 days of age, homogeneity of Optifeed Poultry group is 91.67% while the control is 76.67% (% at the standard weight of the genetic line). Optifeed Poultry demonstrated up to 14 days, be an important tool to improve the initial weight of laying hen. 18

19 CONCLUSIONS OPTIFEED POULTRY at 500 g/t increases significantly weight of broilers on pre-starter period. The use of OPTIFEED POULTRY, at 500 g/t, on period 1 to 7 days and period 42 to 48 days give a interesting result (trend), but not significant (variation between group). Significant Return On Investment (ROI). It confirms that OPTIFEED POULTRY increases feed Intake on 1 day old broiler, increasing weight. 19
