2 Blue light therapy Blue light therapy is an alternative form of therapy, where the narrow spectrum of the organic blue LED light is used to heal, treat and prevent skin diseases and other health problems. Blue light therapy has shown to have a positive effect on the following: Various skin problems (e.g. psoriasis, atopic eczema, acne), Periodontal disease, Neonatal jaundice, Wounds, Depression, Sleep disorders. 3 What does the current light treatments for the skin and the body do? The current light treatments to treat psoriasis contains harmful ultraviolet wavelengths. UV-A and UV-B are known to have very harmful effects on cancer cells. When penetrated under the skin layers these rays breaks the DNA structures. The DNA tries to repair and does not always succeed in it. When it doesn t succeed in it, the result is cancer cells. Psoriatic skin: In the psoriatic skin the keratinocytes and cytokines are hyperproliferating. T cells (immune defense cells) are also proliferating to fight against the inflammation caused by the hyperproliferation of the cytokines. Keratinocytes also cause the increased thickening of the skin. Psoriatic skin treated with blue light therapy luminaire: The blue light therapy enlivens the activity of the T cells. The blue light and the T cells work together to support the removal of the inflammation, consequently the keratinocytes start to reduce their proliferation and differentitation. While the T cells and the blue light has normalized the activity of the keratinocytes, the proliferation of the cytokines reduces and the activity of the T cells normalizes. Therefor the skin must peel the dead and damaged skin tissue off to renew and to make space for the healthy skin cells. How does the skin usually respond to the PURE COMPLEXiON blue light therapy? When you start the PURE COMPLEXiON blue light therapy, the skin begins to peel off about a week after the start. The quality of skin peeling is individual. The client ate strong vitamin D alongside the blue light therapy. The duration of the blue light therapy period was 34 weeks. We finished the period on 30th of May 2017, when the psoriasis symptoms were totally gone. The client filled out a customer satisfaction survey where he commented the PURE COMPLEXiON blue light therapy period was very successful, quick and it was easy to use. He would develop more the tripod. The client has PURE COMPLEXiON 36 luminaire and keeps using it after this. PSORIASIS VULGARIS, MALE, 61 Our client has suffered from psoriasis vulgaris for years. The client started the PURE COMPLEXiON blue light therapy period to his arms on 18th of October The blue light therapy time was 4 times a week 30 minutes per session. The skin was peeled normally on a few occasions. The use of moisturizer wasn t daily and some weeks the client used the blue light therapy only 3 times a week because of the worktrips. Despite this there is now only a scar where you can see the area where the symptom was. The duration of the PURE COMPLEXiON blue light therapy pedios was 28 weeks. The client started the PURE COMPLEXiON blue light therapy period to her arms and neck on 27th of March The blue light therapy time is 5 times a week 30 minutes per session. After the peeling the skin redness started fading and now the skin symptoms are totally gone. She is a cook and the work doesn t irritate the skin anymore from the areas where the client used the PURE COMPLEXiON blue light therapy. The user experience study is still going on, but with this client we started the period without blue light therapy on 12th of June 2017 and will follow when the skin symptoms possibly comes back.
