Planmed Nuance Classic incorporates several enhancements for the technologist in an exquisitely appealing design. Imaging patients is both efficient and safe with Planmed Nuance Classic. 6 Unique MaxView The optional MaxView Positioning System is an innovative breast positioning concept for today s mammography. With MaxView compression and traction, more breast tissue is visible, compared to mammography units using conventional compression systems. By capturing more breast tissue, it maximizes the chances for early lesion detection and reduces the risk of missing a cancer. The MaxView Breast Positioning System is easy to operate and it can be used in all standard views. MaxView uses moving hygienic, radiolucent sheets above and below the compressed breast. These sheets are easily and quickly inserted into the upper and lower MaxView traction modules. During compression gentle traction is applied with a special foot control. Without the use of hands the sheets draw the breast into the imaging field. The mammography technologist can independently move the upper or lower radiolucent sheets into different positions to further aid breast positioning. After exposure, compression is automatically released and the sheets return to the starting position

7 Maximize the Tissue Visibility cm Image taken without the MaxView Breast Positioning System cm Image taken with the MaxView Breast Positioning System With standard compression systems it can be difficult to maximize the breast tissue captured on the film, the back of the breast being frequently excluded from the imaging field. As this is the thickest part of the breast, even losing a few millimetres of tissue means that a significant volume of breast tissue will not be imaged. This may result in a cancer being missed. Planmed Nuance Classic mammography unit with the MaxView System is a solution to this problem by assisting the mammography technologist with positioning and compression. It has been clinically proven that the MaxView Breast Positioning System captures more breast tissue in the field of view. The advantage of the MaxView s pull and roll effect can be clearly seen when comparing an image taken with and without MaxView. MaxView can provide up to 2 cm more breast tissue on some patients. The roll effect creates movement both away from the chest wall and even sideways. In a small breast, 1 cm more tissue can be up to 30 % of the breast volume. Even in a larger breast, 10 % to 15 % of tissue might not be imaged when MaxView is not used. This additional volume of imaged tissue directly translates into finding more potential cancers earlier. Another advantage of MaxView is that it provides sharper visualization of the glandular tissue structures. Traction also improves image clarity by separating superimposed breast tissue

8 Side Access Improved Patient Positioning Good working ergonomics equals high performance. Planmed Nuance Classic is optimized for both; the unit includes several features that help in positioning ergonomics, and at the same time, the unit is well prepared to meet the increasing demand for higher performance. Optional Side Access Patient Positioning improves positioning ergonomics by moving the tube head to either side of the breast support table. The tube head rotates up to 30 degrees around the isocentric centre while the table remains stationary. Noticeably, this unique turn provides more space for positioning. Moreover, the light field stays focused to the breast, improving positioning accuracy. Side Access has been designed to be patient-friendly. The smooth Side Access turn helps the patient to maintain perfect posture for the mammography examination, while providing easier and faster positioning. Optional Side Access is particularly helpful when performing needle localizations and biopsy procedures. Side Access allows for better patient accessibility and workspace, resulting in quicker procedures, less retakes and minimal patient discomfort
