1 General Information Name: Daniel Hall Lesson Plan Guidelines Grade Level: 9 th Grade Pregnancy Prevention Primary Learning Outcome(s) (PLO) TSWBAT identify and describe various types of birth control methods TSWBAT demonstrate proper technique for putting on a condom Virginia Performance Standard(s) 9.11 The student will demonstrate knowledge of pregnancy prevention and disease control. Materials and Equipment Provide a list of all materials and equipment that you will need as you teach, practice, and assess each PLO. If modifying a lesson from the Internet or another source, cite the source. Include copies of anything you give to students (sketches of materials you prepare, examples/models you show to students, and copies of transparencies if used). Power point with pictures of various Birth Control products Worksheet with pictures of various Birth Control products Condoms Models for condoms Procedures Step One: Introduction Start off with a matching game. Power point of pictures will show on the screen, and students will write down answers as to what they believe the pictures are. Step Two: Teaching the Primary Learning Outcome(s). Teach the content relevant to the primary learning outcome(s). -Following the power point, we will go through the pictures again, this time providing information such as quick description as to how product works, Efficiency Rate, and approximate cost. - Following the information portion of the power point, students will learn how to put a condom on and remove a condom from a wooden model. Provide practice and feedback related to the primary learning outcome(s). Matching game: Power point with pictures of various BC products, students will match picture to name of product. Condom Demonstration: Students will learn how to properly put on and remove a condom on a wooden model. Students will then be given a form of birth control, using the letters in those words, come up with a creative acronym that represents the student's understanding of the form of birth control they chose and what it is used for specifically

2 Step Three: Closure Teacher will go through the power point of the pictures again, and class will answer aloud what each picture is. Assessing the Primary Learning Outcome Students will be describe the steps with their classmates on how to properly use a condom.
