Case study 1 V1STA to treat a challenging grade 3 pressure ulcer in continuing care 1 A 100 year old woman with Type II Diabetes and comorbidities developed a post-operative grade 3 pressure ulcer. The wound was debrided using conservative sharp debridement and larval therapy for four weeks before V1STA was applied. Day 1 Grade 3 pressure ulcer on the first day of V1STA application Day 8 Reduction in wound dimensions and slough is evident Day 24 The wound bed was covered in 100% granulation tissue Case study 2 V1STA to treat a grade 4 sacral ulcer 2 An 80 year old man with Type II Diabetes and bilateral leg amputation developed a grade 4 sacral ulcer measuring 9cm x 5cm x 1.5cm deep within four days of admission to hospital. Day 1 V1STA was applied to the grade 4 sacral pressure ulcer Day 7 V1STA applied twice a week. Reduction in wound dimensions evident Day 21 After only 3 weeks the wound had reduced by 2cm x 1.5cm x 0.75cm. The surgeon was pleased with progress and recommended a switch to conventional wound dressings
