2 On April 6, 7 and 8 the VMAT/RapidArc Course 2016 will be held at the in Amsterdam (NL). The organization is a joint effort of the departments of Radiotherapy at the and at the VU University Medical Center (VUmc). This course is designed for medical physicists (in training), radiation oncologists (in training) and for engineers and radiographers. During this three day course, advantages achievable by VMAT/ RapidArc, implementation, and know-how of QA will be presented. Aim of the course: To present reviews and to develop understanding of Clinical motivation for radiation treatment by VMAT/RapidArc Points of concern regarding clinical implementation of VMAT/ RapidArc Possibilities and limitations of optimization techniques applied in VMAT/RapidArc-treatment planning Development of general/class solutions for less complex and more complex targets/treatments sites including clinical examples Points of concern regarding the process of translating VMAT/ RapidArc-plans from treatment planning to linac delivery Verification techniques and applicability of phantoms At the end of the course, the topics explained in the course will be discussed in typical, illustrative problems encountered in clinical practice.
