1 Air Vice-Marshal Frank McGill Frank Scholes McGill was born on June 20, 1894 in Montreal and later attended McGill University, where he guided the varsity swim and water polo teams to intercollegiate championships. He also played for both the varsity football and hockey teams before graduating in 1915 with a commerce degree. In 1919, he captained and quarterbacked the MAAA to the Big Four football title. Also a distinguished yachtsman, he represented Canada in international sailing races and captained the MAAA water polo team to three Canadian titles, from 1921 to McGill served in the First World War as a pilot and also served during the Second World War, where he rose to the rank of Air Vice-Marshal. Once referred to by The Canadian Press as a hazel-eyed superman, McGill was inducted to Canada s Sports Hall of Fame in 1959 and also elected as a player to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in When he died in Montreal on June 28, 1980 an editorial in The Gazette reported that he led a life of action worthy of the most honorable and courageous characters in an Ernest Hemingway novel.

2 Aldo Braccio Aldo Braccio was born July 5, 1963 in Montreal and went on to study psychology at McGill University, graduating with a Bachelor s degree in 1985, followed by a Master s in He earned an MBA from Concordia University in Braccio played for the McGill Redmen soccer team, as well as competing on the track and field squad. He served as the starting goalkeeper for five seasons from 1982 to 1986, posting a stellar record in 54 regular season starts, with nine shutouts and a stingy 0.50 goals-against average. Braccio earned conference all-star and all-canadian honours four times and guided the Redmen to four Quebec league titles, a CIAU national championship during his freshman campaign and a second-place finish at Nationals in his sophomore campaign. He was named to the CIAU all-tournament team three times and served as an alternate captain of the Redmen in each of his last three years. After graduating, he played two seasons of professional soccer with the Montreal Supra (1988, 1989) of the Canadian Soccer League.

3 Carol Chiang ATHLETE Carol Chiang was born December 30, 1975 in The Pas, Manitoba, and enrolled at McGill University in 1993 at the age of 17. She graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor s degree in science, majoring in physical and occupational therapy, followed by another BSc (anatomy) in A freestyle sprinter with the Martlet swim team, she merited Academic All-Canadian honours, earned all-conference status five times and collected a combined total of 18 gold medals in five Quebec league championship meets. At the CIAU Nationals, Chiang reached the podium 11 times, winning three gold medals, five silvers and three bronzes. Her CIAU gold medals were in the 50m freestyle (26.37), 4x100 freestyle (4:15.83) and 4x200 free (8:20.02) relays, establishing a CIAU record time in the latter. She qualified for All-Canadian status four times, was voted Team MVP three times and amassed enough FINA decathlon points to receive the team s swimmerof-the-year award on three occasions. Chiang served as team captain in , established a number of school records and in 1996, finished fifth in the 50m free at the Canadian Olympic trials, missing the cut by one-tenth of a second.

4 Mark Joncas Mark Richard Joncas was born on July 5, 1958 in Val d Or, Quebec, and went on to play football at McGill University, where he graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor s degree in engineering. A 6-foot-1, 230-pound defensive tackle, he became a starter in his second year and over his final three seasons, established himself as one of the premiere linemen in the country. When the dust settled on a brilliant collegiate career, he was in on 140 total tackles, including 21 quarterback sacks in 21 games as a starter. Joncas had a break-out year in 1980, earning his first of back-to-back awards for conference all-star, CIAU All-Canadian honours and Team MVP. In his senior campaign, he served as co-captain and helped guide the Redmen to a 7-0 first-place finish in regular-season play. He was awarded the JP Metras and the Alouettes Alumni trophies for the most outstanding lineman in the conference, and the most outstanding player in Quebec university football, respectively. Joncas was drafted 49th overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1982.

5 1962 Redmen football TEAM The 1962 McGill Redmen football team captured the Senior Intercollegiate Football League title game for the Yates Cup before a CBC-TV audience with a come-from-behind, last-minute playoff victory over Queen s in Kingston on Nov. 17, After pre-season wins over St. FX and RMC, the Redmen opened the regular season with back-to-back losses to Western and Toronto, but roared back to win their last five contests, defeating Western and Toronto in addition to three victories over Queen s. The Redmen finished with a 7-2 record overall, outscoring opponents The 35-man roster was composed of Leon Abbott, Fraser Allen, Tony Blair, John Bowler, Ewart Budgell, Andy Conner, Stewart Davis, John DiFederico, Dick Feidler, Ian Grant, Peter Halmay, Bruce Ingram, Bruce Johansson, Wade Kenny, Willie Lambert, Ray Lawson, Steve Longstaff, Sal Lovecchio, Allan McKenzie, Brian Marshall, Saul Miller, Ian Monteith, Dave Morton, Brian Pilgrim, Gordon Potter, Richard (Whitey) Reimer, Larry Sheehan, Tom Skypeck, Graeme Strathdee, Don Taylor, George Telesh, Allan Wallace, Eric Walter, Gavin Wyllie and Russ Zelko. The coaching staff included head coach Bill Bewley, plus assistants Tom Moran (backfield), Ron Murphy (line) and Dave Copp. The support staff included Dick Nicholson (manager), Dave Smith (asst. manager), Jim Adams (trainer), Al Duguid (asst. trainer) and Fred Dupré (equipment manager). The team physicians were Dr. Everett Crutchlow, Dr. Hugh Brodie and Dr. Ted Percy. The team was guided by head coach Bill Bewley and featured a school record 11 honorees on The Canadian Press all-star team, including quarterback Tom Skypeck, the team captain who received the Omega trophy as league MVP. The alternate captains were Don Taylor (tight end) and Willie Lambert, the latter whom merited all-star status at both running back and defensive back. Other all-conference selections were Eric Walter, who led the league in scoring with eight TDs in six games, plus Andy Conner (OT), Dick Feidler (DT), Allan McKenzie (DE), Russ Zelko (DE), Steve Longstaff (LB) and Tony Blair (LB).
