5 A total of 900,000 buildings have been damaged. Over 1.5 million persons rendered homeless. Some 604,000 of which have left Port au Prince for rural areas, including 302,000 children, as of 19 February.
6 These are the latest figures but they were updated on 28 February. The increase in displacement over the past month is expected to be significant.
7 Over 433 different spontaneous settlement sites hosting close to 683,000 persons, however sites are growing in number and population. Some 21 camps in Port au Prince, (hosting some 218,000 people), will be unsafe in the rainy season. At least 9,000 persons in six sites are at risk of immediate death due to flash flooding and landslides.

9 Government offices destroyed, staff (from senior advisors to volunteers) killed, loss of records, assets, v ehicles, ICT equipment. Capacity to respond is severely constrained.

11 UNICEF CLUSTER LEADERSHIP WASH Nutrition Education Child Protection Co-Chairing WASH Cluster with DINEPA (Over 50 organizations participate in the Cluster) Co-Chairing Nutrition Cluster with Ministry of Health (45 Cluster partners) Co-Chairing Education Cluster with Save the Children and Ministry of Education (some 40 Cluster partners) Leading Child Protection Sub-Cluster (57 Sub- Cluster partners) within the larger Protection Cluster
12 EMERGENCY VACCINATION CAMPAIGN Over 58,000 children under seven vaccinated against measles and other major preventable disease with the campaign ongoing. UNICEF has supported with financial, technical and supply assistance.
13 SUPPORT TO MEDICAL FACILITIES 120 emergency health kits for the benefit of 120,000 people for 3 months and 15 midwifery kits to perform 750 deliveries have been delivered to partner by UNICEF.
14 SEVERE ACUTE MALNUTRITION 134 centres for treatment of severe acute malnutrition managed by Nutrition Cluster partners, (out-patient and in-patient & mobile units in remote & difficult conditions). UNICEF provides financial, technical, supply assistance.
15 SUPPLEMENTAL FEEDING 20,000 children and pregnant and lactating women in 92 settlements reached with blanket supplemental feeding by UNICEF and Nutrition and/or Food Security Cluster partners.
16 PREVENTING MALNUTRITION 23 infant and young child feeding centres providing counseling on nutrition, reaching caregivers and children. UNICEF supports these centres with financial, supply and technical assistance.
17 PROVISION OF WATER Over 1.3 million displaced persons reached with safe water by trucking by WASH Cluster partners, with at least 5/l/p/d. UNICEF supports approximately half the cost of the trucking operation.
18 SANITATION At least 5,350 latrines constructed, serving over 267,500 displaced persons. UNICEF continues to coordinate acceleration of the sanitation strategy with partners.
19 PYSCHO-SOCIAL SUPPORT Over 78 child friendly spaces Over 55,000 children reached per week with psycho-social support interventions, supported by UNICEF.
20 SEPARATED CHILDREN Close to 500 separated children registered. 488 residential child care facilities have been assessed by UNICEF and the Institute for Social Well-being and Research.
21 BASIC EDUCATION Over 600 school tents, 875 school-in-a-box kits, 2226 recreation kits and 1,500 ECD kits have been distributed by UNICEF across the country to partners.
