3 The highlights. VELVET X-Mini: Top-class technology, exclusively for your most demanding customers. The Acclimatisation Manager. The Active Feedback Block. The Situation Optimizer. The Natural Sound. The optimal fitting based on the hearing loss is frequently rejected by the customer. The sound or volume may be rejected depending on the individual hearing experience of the customer. The Acclimatisation Manager makes allowances for this effect. Based on the optimal frequency response, this function of the VELVET X-Mini determines a pleasant acoustic setting for the customer as a starting point for the automatic acclimatisation. A number of predefined modifications are available for this process based on the target frequency response and taking into account the different needs of first time and follow-up hearing instrument wearers (Starting point, Too shrill, Too loud, Increasement of spontaneous acceptance). To enable highly individual settings, the start frequency response of the automatic acclimatisation can also be programmed freely. Over a defined period (2 weeks, 2 months, 6 months) the VELVET X-Mini system moves automatically closer to the previously determined optimal frequency response. The progress of the acclimatisation and the change in frequency response can be monitored at any time, making this system the ideal support for professional fitting. VELVET X-Mini uses the new generation of phase cancellation feedback management systems. The system works quickly and reliably to ensure that feedback is prevented even in critical acoustic situations. The required amplification and sound quality remain unchanged. This is achieved with a technology which enables safe differentiation between feedback and natural signals such as music and therefore successful cancellation of feedback. The signal given off in the ear is marked automatically by the system. The mark can be recognized by the VELVET X-Mini signal processing system when the sound leaves the ear and the signal therefore can be quickly and safely classified as feedback. This ensures that feedback is always eliminated completely without influencing the wanted sounds. VELVET X-Mini recognizes different environment situations (speech, background noise, speech in background noise, music) and carries out the necessary control processes. In the case of music, the system switches to an omnidirectional microphone characteristic and adaptive parameters are deactivated. For speech in background noise, the directional microphone characteristic is activated and the adaptive parameters function completely. The goal is to offer customers optimal automatic setting of the microphone characteristics and control parameters at all times and in any situation. The Situation Optimizer expands this function to include automatic modification of the frequency response based on the classification result. This enables a completely different frequency response to be activated for different situations without the hearing instrument wearer having to change the programme manually. This offers an additional benefit with regard to sound and speech intelligibility in environments where the acoustic characteristics differ greatly. The software offers several different predefined levels of frequency response adjustment based on environment recognition. It is also possible to programme frequency response adjustment individually for each recognized situation. With BTE systems, sound is received not in the ear but above the ear. This means that the natural influence of the sound by the outer ear (pinna effect) is neutralized completely and the signal sounds less natural. The ability to localize sound sources continues to be influenced as the natural directional effect is also impaired. Natural Sound copies the natural behaviour of the ear. A spatial omnidirectional microphone is created, offering a natural sound and increased satisfaction. Natural Sound also establishes a natural directional effect (low frequencies: omnidirectional, high frequencies: directional), enabling the hearing system wearer to recognize easily whether a signal is coming from the front or behind. Natural Sound works in combination with the adaptive microphone system. In omnidirectional mode, users can take advantage of the benefits of Natural Sound. In directional mode, up to 4 frequency-dependant sound sources are hidden. The optimal VELVET X-Mini microphone characteristic is set automatically depending on the hearing situation.

4 The Comfort-Plus. Connected with the entire world: VELVET X-Mini via Media. The new remote control Media can do much more than simply switch the programs of the hearing system, modify the sound or volume and switch the hearing system on and off. Media establishes a wireless connection between the hearing systems and a wide range of external signal sources via Bluetooth. Enjoy a new telephone experience with Media. If Media is used in conjunction with a Bluetooth-compatible telephone, it communicates with the hearing systems, enabling them to be used like a headset. A signal is sent to announce an in-coming call which can be taken and ended with Media or rejected before the call is taken. The telephone can remain in a bag or pocket. Experience top quality home entertainment. In conjunction with the Media remote control and Media transmitter, the hearing systems work like a stereo headphone. The supplied Media transmitter comes prepaired to Media and can be connected easily to the TV or other audio systems. The audio signal is then transmitted wirelessly to the hearing system. A special Bluetooth log ensures that the TV picture and sound are always synchronised and free from disturbance. The maximum distance between the Media transmitter and Media is approx. 10 meters. Media must be programmed together with the relevant VELVET X-Mini hearing systems by connecting Media to a USB input on the computer using a special programming cable. It goes without saying that the VELVET X-Mini portfolio also comes with a traditional remote control. Easy to operate, unobtrusive appearance emote2 comes with the following functions: To make Media easier to use, individual designations of the 5 programs can be defined and programmed (e.g. evening playing cards, at home). A text can also be programmed to appear on the display when Media is switched on (e.g. next service appointment with date). 5 The design. VELVET X-Mini: Perfect design in the seven attractive natural colours. Easy-to-change housing: more variety on demand. It couldn t be easier to change the colour of the housing. Colour Exchange Kits are available containing everything you need: top case, bottom case, battery compartment, pins, tools for removing/inserting the housing pins. The top case comes fitted with microphone protection and should therefore be replaced regularly (approx. every 3 months) to prevent acoustic problems in the system caused by soiling of the microphone protection. The specially developed Mic Cover Exchange Kit can be used for this purpose (contents: 4 top cases in the required colour, pins, tools for removing/inserting the housing pins). 6 The fitting. Perfect system: The VELVET X-Mini can be fitted and programmed in no time at all. The simple receiver selection. A special length gauge (black) is available for selecting the receiver, which is placed on the ear of the wearer. The tip on the tragus determines the correct length of the receiver. The digit on the length gauge is the same height as the tip of the tragus and can also be found on the relevant receiver. Various domes available. Domes are available in a wide range of dimensions to enable optimal fit in the auditory canal and the required sound pressure level. Open: 6, 8, 10 mm Closed: 8, 10 mm Double Dome closed: 8-10, mm All models are equipped with cerumen protection (C guard or grid filter) We strongly recommend that the P receiver only be adjusted with individually made earmoulds. Replacing the receiver unit. Turn the receiver unit 45 anti-clockwise. Pull off the receiver unit. Clip on the receiver unit. The marks must lie over each other! Turn the receiver unit 45 clockwise. Installation and programming. For programming, at least Connexx 6.1/Hansafit 6.2 must be installed. The wired connection of VELVET X-Mini to the computer takes place with a special adapter, which is inserted in the battery compartment in place of the battery. The fitting software recognizes the relevant receiver automatically, enabling the receiver required for the individual hearing loss to be selected easily.
