ENDO 611-Endodontics I (4Cr: 2Lec, 6Prac) This course aim is to provide the students with the foundational knowledge to the complexities of the root canal system and its relation to successful endodontics. Coronal access, Canal length determination, basic and recent advances in instruments and advanced instrumentation techniques. Pulp biology, pulpal pathology: its etiology and prevention. Development of periapical diseases, classification of diseases and their signs and symptoms. Response of periradicular diseases to endodontic therapy. Endodontic diagnostic procedures. 4 ENDO 614-Micro Endodontics (1Cr: 1Lec) The aim of this course is to provide the students with knowledge about Restoration of the Endodontically Treated Teeth, Tooth Discoloration and Bleaching of Non Vital Teeth, Vital pulp therapy, Management of teeth with immature apices, Traumatic tooth emergencies and Ultrasonic endodontics. ENDO 615- Micro Surgical Endodontics (1Cr: 1Lec) Today with the rise of operating microscope OM, the term endodontic surgery has been superseded with the term microsurgical endodontics. The aim of this course is to orient the candidate with an in-depth knowledge about periapical and periraducular microsurgeries with detailed description of the recent microintruments and retrofilling materials in order to reduce endodontic surgery failure rate. ENDO 616-Endodontics IV (4Cr: 2Lec, 6Prac) The aim of this course is to provide the students with knowledge about Restoration of the Endodontically Treated Teeth, Tooth Discoloration and Bleaching of Non Vital Teeth, Vital pulp therapy, Management of teeth with immature apices, Traumatic tooth emergencies and Ultrasonic endodontics. ENDO 691- Conferences I (1Cr: 1Lec) This course aims at preparing the candidate to start small research projects with an in-depth view of the core science of endodontics, the advanced science of endodontics and the related clinical topics through literature reviews stressing on evidence based approach. ENDO 692-Journal Club (2Cr: 2Lec) This course aims at providing the candidate with an in-depth view of the core science of endodontics, the advanced science of endodontics and the related clinical topics stressing on evidence based approach through seminar presentation and literature reviews. ENDO 694- Conferences II (1Cr: 1Lec) This course aims at preparing the candidate to participate into local, national or international conferences through the research projects he had been working on throughout the previous courses. MGMT 652-Practice Management (1Cr: 1Lec) This course aims at teaching the management techniques for succeeding a dental practice from a business perspective. Students and graduates, as well as any dental or administrative assistant working in the dental office find answers to questions of crucial importance related to starting an office, succeeding already running ones. MICR 651-Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Biology (1Cr: 1Lec) Microbiology: Prokaryotes and eukaryotes; Structure of bacterial cell; Biological requirements for bacterial growth; Bacterial growth: growth curve, kinetic of growth, continuous growth and synchronous growth; Bacterial products: pigments, toxins and
5 enzymes; Genetic elements: Chromosomal and non-chromosomal elements; Mode of transferring genetic elements; Mutation; General properties, structure, classification, replication, cultivation and detection. Immunology: Types of immunity; Immune response; Antigen and antibody; Surface markers on cells of immune system; Immune deficiency diseases; Hypersensitivity and autoimmunity; Serological techniques. ODTP 601-Advanced Diagnosis and Treatment Plan (1Cr: 1Lec) The course is intended for students to gain basic knowledge and skills that are involved in the diagnostic process and treatment planning through history taking, physical examination, biopsy procedures and delivery of care to patients. During the course, they will be introduced to the various aspects of orofacial pain, and be able to differentiate non-dental from dental orofacial pain disorders in order to appropriately treat or refer. They also will be able to gain and demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of diagnostic imaging at a postgraduate level including Digital Imaging and Cone Beam radiography (CBCT). OPTH 604-Advanced Oral Pathology (1Cr: 1Lec) Introduction to oral pathology; caries, pulp diseases, osteomyelitis, bone disease, cysts, odontogenic tumors, white and precancerous lesions, non-odontogenic tumors, fibrous overgrowths and salivary gland diseases. Classification, etiology and pathogenesis, microbiologic factors, clinical features and differential diagnosis of the previous conditions. ORBL 601-Oral Biology (2Cr: 2Lec) The aim of this course of lectures and tutorials is to familiarize the students with the central features of molecular cell biology and the new advances in oral biology that has emerged. It deals with the structure, development, and functions of the oral tissues, their interrelationships, and their relation to other organ systems in health. Students successfully completing the course will have gained an understanding of developmental events and molecular mediators of cellular activity, the embryological origin and anatomy of mineralized and soft tissues, as well as the necessary background required to understand the typical histological changes in the periodontium and bone that result from tooth movements. Also, the course develops a spirit of inquiry that leads them to seek better ways to promote and preserve oral and general health. ORBL 602-Electron Microscopy (2Cr: 2Lec) The major focus of the program is to provide the students with the basic understanding of electron microscopes and how to interpret the morphological structures and characteristics of dental and paradental tissues. It also includes a track for teaching the students how to choose and study significant scientific problems using modem scientific approaches. The program educates students to understand current and classic scientific facts and principles. By the end of the course, the students will be able to interpret the normal ultrastructural appearance of the dental and paradental tissues. They will also acquire the ability to collect and analyze scientific data, and explain scientific findings through both written and spoken words. PHBS 603-Biostatistics & Research Methodology (2Cr: 2Lec) Introduction to the course, definitions, Characteristics of data and Collection of data, Sampling (Types of sample, Methods of sample), Essentials for research design (Types of research study, Components of research protocol), Tabular and graphical Presentation of data
