3 Monitoring Your Blood Sugar Check Your Blood Sugar Feedback from your blood glucose machine can be used by you on a daily basis and your provider to make adjustments that will reduce your risk of diabetes complications.

4 Monitoring Your Blood Sugar Blood Sugar Testing- Two Types Blood Glucose Machine Provides immediate feedback on your blood sugar A1C Test Average blood sugar for 3-4 months

5 Monitoring Your Blood Sugar Blood Glucose Machine Goals Time Goal Fasting/before meals mg/dl 2 hours after a meal < 180 mg/dl

6 Monitoring Your Blood Sugar A1C Test The A1C blood test gives you a picture of your blood glucose level over a period of 3-4 months As red blood cells circulate throughout your body glucose molecules stick to them Very simply, the A1C is a measure of how much glucose is sticking to your red blood cells
