1 Study concerning the proportion of the specific means used in the learning of the freestyle by the challenged and nonchallenged persons Valeria Balan a *, Anna Maria Finta b anational University of Physical Education and Sport, 140 C-tin Noica Street, Bucharest, , Romania buniversity of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila, 37 Dionisie Lupu Street, Bucharest, , Romania Swimming is a sport discipline which is framed in the sport category is based on the actual motric learning. In this type of learning the end of a movement represents the beginning of the next movement. During the learning process, such means are used as instruments which help in learning motric skills. Our study proposes to show the volume of the means used during the swimming lessons in which challenged and non-challenged persons learn to swim freestyle. The means used by both groups were analysed and compared so that we could see the differences. In our paper when we discussed about the challenged persons we spoke about young people with Down s syndrome. In our comparison we took into account the mental age of the Down s syndrome young people. These were framed in the mild mental deficiency IQ and had the same motric possibilities as the children between 5 to 12. Finally, we observed that the means repeated during the learning process of freestyle by our subjects were different. If the nonchallenged children used glide exercises, especially the Down s syndrome young people repeated more the flutter kick movement means and freestyle technique more than the other means. 2 Study concerning the improving of the intersegmentary coordination at the Down s syndrome young people Valeria Balan a *, Mirela Shaao b anational University of Physical Education and Sport, 140 C-tin Noica Street, Bucharest, , Romania buniversity of Craiova, Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, Romania, 156 Brestei Street, Craiova, , Romania Swimming is a sport discipline which requests floating, gliding and advance through the water with the rhytmic and coordinated movements of the arms, legs, head and the specific breathing. The intersegmentary coordination together with the others elements of the coordinative capacity has the main objective the improving of the swimming technique. In this study we wanted to underline the manner in which the intersegmentary coordination was improved at two Down s syndrome young people who were practicing swimming. For this, we used the breaststroke technique which requested a high level of the intersegmentary coordination. This was evaluated through the using of the progression items during the learning process. The progression items were proposed by the specialists of the International Special Olympics and were adapted by us. At the same time, we examined our two subjects a land test too grass drill test proposed by E.A. Fleishman. This test measured the ability of the subject to make fast total body movements while on all fours. Finally, we observed that the Down s syndrome young people improved their intersegmentary coordination level. 3 ICPESK 2014 Student Training from the Perspective of Continous Education Dumitru Mariana, Moroianu Miruna Senior Lecturer Faculty of Psyhology and Education Sciences, Ovidius University Constanta Lecturer Faculty of Psyhology and Education Sciences, Ovidius University Constanta * Corresponding address:mar33a@yahoo.com In the context of the nowadays permanent changes and modernizations, physical education should be seen as a component part of continuous education. Therefore, it is recommended to take actions, in a more or less organized way, for introducing the materials, means and new approaching methods necessary in preparing the young generations for persistently practicing physical exercises and sports in general. General and specialty education, as well as, the students' professional training should be seen from the perspective of both major trends of the development of science, technology and art, and also from the perspective of permanent education. Nowadays, new generations grow faster in height and weight. This is due to both more civilized life conditions and, also, genetic factors. The need for their continuous education, insisting especially on the benefits of practicing physical exercises under different forms is, therefore, more necessary than ever. This is the most reliable solution for keeping us in a "good shape" and for enhancing the optimal capacity of our vital body functions, as long as, physical exercises and activities are practiced systematically and continuously. 6 ICPESK 2014 Cardio Vascular Status of Impaired Children as Benchmark for Designing the Adapted Physical Programs Serbanoiu Sorin, Associated Professor, UNEFS Bucharest Kiss Katharina, Special Olympics Foundation from Romania This paper-work is presenting a preliminary study seeking to establish how the parameters of cardiovascular status, like blood pressure, cardiac rhythm and blood oxygen level, can represent benchmarks in designing the adapted physical activity programs. The research has included impaired persons who were subjected to tests related to their cardio-vascular status and tests conducted to show their fitness level. Following these tests, the cardio-vascular availability for effort and the fitness level have been determined, these aspects substantiating the recommendations related to the type of adapted physical activities and category of methods suggested for each profile. The exercising programs have been adapted to the age and practicing conditions accessible to the subjects, as well as to the time frame they are able to spare for the physical exercise. The study results, consisting of examples of adapted physical activity programs, will support the Special Olympics Romania organization s actions designed for impaired children, as well as the activities of all parties interested in increasing the life quality of these persons. Key words: cardio-vascular status; impaired persons; adapted physical activities.

7 Aspects Related to the Education of Perceptive Motive Conducts And Structures of the Child With Mental Disabilities Silvia Teodorescu a, Ofelia Popescu a * au.n.e.f.s. Bucharest, Constantin Noica, No. 140, , Romania The main purpose of the educational programs designed for children with intellectual disabilities is to progressively develop the acquired acquisitions by optimizing the age specific experience and by accentuating the affective-attitude and action dimensions of their personality's development. Therefore, it is mandatory to identify the factors which condition the performance of different types of fundamental movements, this way helping the teacher to establish appropriate tasks and to optimize the various environmental conditions in order to ensure the child's individual stimulation beyond the group's norms. The detailed analysis and knowledge of each individual is necessary in any educational action in which the child must be perceived as a biopsychosocial entity. In our research, we wish to emphasize that psychomotor education is a learning process which can be efficient if the child is aware of his/her own body, of his/her laterality, can locate himself/herself in space, can manage time and has stability and coordination of gestures and movements. In that respect, the stimulative kinetic programs which were designed and applied to children in grades 1 to 10 of the Bucharest Special Education Secondary School demonstrated that significant progress can be achieved in the psychomotor field if the work is continuous, systematic and individualized. 8 ICPESK 2014 Research Regarding the Impact of Health Promotion Program on Changing the Life Style Of Mentally Challenged Persons Diagnosed with Various Levels of Obesity Corina Predescu a, Aura Bota b, Katharina Kiss c abnational University of Physical Education and Sports, 140, Constantin Noica St., Bucharest, , Bucharest, c Special Olympics Romania, 140, Constantin Noica St., Bucharest, * Corresponding address:corina.predescu@yahoo.com Data related to the therapeutic approach and frequency of associated pathology in persons with intellectual disabilities are insufficiently available in our country as compared with those provided by the literature. Also, with regard to the high incidence of endocrine metabolic pathology among the population, there are no studies determining the percent of such disorders in persons with intellectual disabilities. This study was conducted on 258 persons with intellectual disabilities, participating in the National Specials Olympics Games - Cluj in order to establish the incidence of endocrine -metabolic pathology among this group of population, as well as to identify other health issues followed by therapeutic recommendations and by remote follow-up of these recommendations. In addition to the organized sport competitions, all 258 participants have been examined under the "Health Promotion" Program. Also, part of this sequence is to identify the risk of osteoporosis and metabolic syndrome which is determined by correlations between BMI, blood pressure values of the subjects, abdominal girth measurement and analysis of dietary habits. The results, partially confirmed by the literature, are showing differences per age groups for the incidence of this pathology, which suggested a different individual therapeutic approach. We considered that by improving mobility and flexibility, one can contribute decisively to the enhancement of back-court defense actions efficiency. Method: Current practice usually limits mobility training to a few stretching exercises included in the warm-up session. We decided to add a special program for joint mobility and muscle suppleness in the training plan of the woman volleyball team of the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The program that we designed was materialized in a special stretching lesson, once a week, containing both volleyball specific means and exercises adapted from various fitness programs and Yoga. Mobility and flexibility were tested at the beginning and at the end of the University Championship season. The efficiency Index of the defense actions Dig and Coverage was also calculated at the beginning and at the end of the experiment. Results: After applying our program, significant increases in joint mobility and muscle elasticity indicators were found. This also had the effect of improving the efficiency index of the investigated back-court defense actions. Discussion: Using special stretching programs for joint mobility and muscle suppleness, one can increase the efficiency of individual back-court defense actions of young woman volleyball players and thus enhance the performance capacity. The research contained 203 children: 101 attending the 5 th form; 102 attending the 9 th form. Data were gathered through an anonymous questionnaire. It was found out that children perform physical activities which are not part of Physical Education on a daily basis. The results show that the age of children affect the frequency of daily physical activities, namely that the higher the children s age, the smaller their interest in out-of-school physical activities. In the 5 th form, 44 % of children performed some physical activity on a daily basis; whereas in the 9 th form, it was only 32 % of the informants. Boys devote more time to physical activities than girls. Favorite physical activities were the same for both boys and girls; sex influenced only the order of the favorite activities. Boys stated the following order of favorite activities: ball games, cycling, and running. Girls stated a different order: cycling, running, ball games. Further, the students stated that they also spend their leisure time rollerblading, exercising (aerobics, Zumba, Pilates, and gymnastics), dancing, horse riding, walking, combat sports (boxing, judo, and fencing). They also attend a number of hobby and leisure courses (Scouts, fire fighters, fishers, chess players) and fit centers.
