403: The MELT Experience for Group Exercise Presented by: Sue Hitzmann, MS, CST, NMT, creator of the MELT Method Time Block H2 - Friday, 8:00-9:50am Calling all group exercise instructors! Here is the breakthrough solution that immediately improves the results of every exercise modality while reducing the risk of pain and injury in your students. See how easily you can add Hands-off Bodywork techniques to your group cycling, sculpt, yoga, suspension training, Pilates and other group exercise formats. The moves of MELT Length and MELT NeuroStrength simulate the techniques and the results of manual therapy. These unique concepts will improve your participant retention and set you apart in your field. The MELT Method The MELT Method is a breakthrough self-treatment system that restores the supportiveness of the body's connective tissue to combat chronic pain, improve performance, and decrease the accumulated stress caused by repetitive postures and movements of everyday living. MELT simulates the hands-on techniques that manual therapist Sue Hitzmann uses to eliminate stress, pain, and dysfunction in her private clients. MELT is the very first Hands-off Bodywork method developed for the general public as a self-care tool for chronic pain. It s an affordable addition to any wellness or fitness routine. MELT is the first applicable neurofascial technique designed to rehydrate connective tissue and rebalance the nervous system. MELT offers the opportunity for anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, to improve their longevity through self-treatment. The consistent results MELT yields are remarkable and undeniable. Previously such results were available only through ongoing, costly bodywork from multiple practitioners. The MELT Protocol MELT directly addresses the effects of stuck stress and imbalance with the 4 R s - Reconnect, Rebalance, Rehydrate, and Release. The 4 R s are the MELT formula of selftreatment. Within each category, there are different techniques used to achieve the desired result. The 4 R s provide the most immediate, lasting changes, which is why you always use all 4 R s every time you MELT.

Lower Body Rehydrate and Release Sequence Notes Rest Assess: Reconnect Back Thigh Shear: Rehydrate Calf Glide and Shear: Rehydrate

Calf Rinse: Rehydrate SI Joint Shear: Rehydrate Bent Knee Press: Rehydrate

Hip to Heel Press: Rehydrate Pelvic Tuck and Tilt Challenge (modified): Reconnect Low Back Decompress: Release Rest Reassess: Reconnect

MELT NeuroStrength Once a body s neurofascial system has become more efficiently stable with MELT Length, you can improve stability in motion and efficiency of movement with MELT NeuroStrength. MELT NeuroStrength adds powerful Reintegrate and Repattern Techniques that use body weight, resistance bands, and MELT soft body rollers to your toolbox. Unlike traditional strength exercises that focus on muscle movement, MELT NeuroStrength improves the timing and activates the deep stabilizing muscles of the shoulder and pelvic girdle, spine, and NeuroCore. Stabilization in these areas is necessary in order to move with accuracy and efficiency. MELT NeuroCore and shoulder and pelvic girdle stabilization moves are more subtle than traditional exercises, yet challenging and appropriate for any age and fitness level. Reintegration and Repatterning Reintegration The goal of Reintegration is to improve the timing of muscles during isolated movement so proper core or girdle stability is achieved. These MELT Strength Moves Reintegrate the necessary neurological stabilization required for dynamic motion. MELT Reintegration uses slow, isolated, controlled, and subtle movement or static postures. The focus of Reintegration is to pay attention to what s staying stable when the arms or legs move. It s not about the range of motion or the ability to create a motion. It s about the stability required for accurate movement. Repatterning The goal of Repatterning is to improve stability during movement and normal function. The more stable a body is, the more coordinated the movement, which significantly reduces the risk of shoulder, hip, and knee injury and low back or neck pain. The repetitive nature of Repatterning creates true neurological fatigue in motion to achieve the result. Slow down and take the time to focus on what s staying stable and almost forget the movement you are executing. Repatterning works against gravity, frequently in an upright posture. These movements are challenging and take more coordination and structural stability. Participants must be connected to their Autopilot before they try these techniques in order for proper Repatterning to take effect.
