15 Recipe For Strengthening Qi Soup of Ginseng and Lotus Seed Soak in appropriate amount of water and steam for 1 hour Drink the soup, twice a day For lassitude, general weakness, spontaneous sweating, diarrhea, poor appetite. 1. Rensheng 10g 2. Lotus seed 10pcs 3. Crystal sugar 30g 15
16 Recipe for Supplementing Blood Thick Soup of lamb with Chinese Angelica Root Collect the herbs into a bag and tie up the opening. Put lamb and other condiments together with appropriate amount of water and salt, bring it to boiling with strong fire and then stew with mild fire until the meat is done properly. Weakness after illness or delivery, abdominal cold pain, metrorrhagia, metrostaxis, anemia 1. Lamb 200g 2. Danggui 15g 3. Huangqi 25g 4. Dangshen 25g 5. Appropriate amounts of spring onion, fresh ginger, cooking wine. 16
17 Recipe for Supplementing Yin Gruel with Dogwood Fruit ( 山萸肉 ) Put clean dogwood fruit together with rice in a earthenware pot to make gruel, add appropriate amount of sugar just before the gruel is ready. Take twice a day, 3-5 days as a course. Strengthen liver and kidney Yin /essence, arrest excessive sweating, relieve dizziness, tinnitus, sore lower back, frequent urination. 1. Shanyu 15-20g 2. Rice 60g 3. Appropriate amount of sugar 17
18 Recipe for Prolonging Life Soft Extraction of Jade ( 琼玉膏 ) Grind Renshen and Fuling into fine powder, pound Dihuang to obtain juice, mix the herb powder, juice and honey thoroughly. Put the mixture into a jar and seal it with layers of paper. Put the jar in a deep pan with appropriate water, bring the water to boiling and then using mild fire to stew it for 3 days. Seal the jar properly with wax and soak it in cold water for 10 days. As before, boiling the jar for another day, then it is ready for use. One spoon a time, twice a day. Tonify Qi, blood and essence, promote generation of marrow. From Yin Shan Zheng Yao 饮膳正要 1. Renshen 120g 2. Rehmannia root juice (Dihuang) 800g 3. Fuling 245g 4. Honey 500g 18
19 Medicated Diet for Some Diseases Disease Diet Recipes Hypertension Hawthorn fruit 山楂, chrysanthemum flower 菊花, sophora flower 槐花, celery 芹菜, onion 洋葱, corn stigma 玉米须, green tea 绿茶 Chronic bronchitis Apricot kernel 杏仁, water chestnut 荸荠, lily bulb 百合, honey, pear, white radish, lotus root, walnut kernel, tangerine peel 1. Tea of Hawthorn fruit 12g, chrysanthemum flower 9g. 2. Decoction of Hawthorn fruit 15g and cassia seed 决明子 15g 1. Chuan fritillary bulb 川贝母 6g, lily bulb 15g, water chestnut 30g, pear 1-2 pcs, sugar, steamed together. 2. Water chestnut, white radish, lotus root 250g each, pear 500g, pounded to make juice, add honey 250g. Take 30 ml each time. 19

Gruel made from rice 100g with decoction of amomum fruit 3g, tangerine peel 6g, fruit citron 6g, finger citron 6g (for stagnated type) Chronic enteritis Rosted ginger, Chinese yam, hyacinth bean 扁豆, Poria, Job s-tears seed 薏苡仁, euryale seed 芡实, lotus seed 1. Gruel made of Chinese yam, euryale seed, lotus seed, hyacinth bean, Job s-tears seed 15g each, Chinese date 10 pcs, rice 75g. Take twice a day. Diabetes Chinese yam, mulberry, dogwood fruit 山萸肉, corn stigma 1. Gruel made of Dihuang juice and rice. 2. Gruel prepared with Tianmendong 30g and rice 60g. 3. Gruel made of Chinese yam, Longyanrou, lizhi, wuweizi and rice. 20
