6 Positive Trajectory towards PPO s and SCO s 5 participants Fluctuating Trajectory with progression and relapse common 7 participants Negative Trajectory with little or no progression towards PPO s and SCO s 6 participants Develop links with children, engage in college course, separate from past associates SM more controlled but still persisted Relapse in SM, Street Culture and Offending behaviours Causes of relapse commonly emotional stressors teamed with re emergence of past associates Continued to engage in same behaviours and to same extent 2 participants were imprisoned 1 participant died, 2 abandoned tenancies and 1 was evicted

8 Familiar Neighbours, Familiar Motivators Participant s with positive trajectories had commonly developed positive relationships with neighbours and had positive familial relations still intact. All those with negative trajectories lived in a deprived area closely situated to homeless services These participants consistently noted the negative impact of homeless and formerly homeless associates on their progression and wellbeing Common impacts were damage to the tenancy, physical harm or criminal charges

10 Neglect, Trauma and Substance Misuse Those with positive trajectories did not report any profound trauma or neglect during childhood Those with fluctuating trajectories faced profound trauma, but later in life. Relapse s occurred with the emergence of emotional stressors. All with negative trajectories reported very stressful childhood s in which neglect and trauma were common. As such very few had maintained any familial relations.

13 Challenges for Providers and Commissioners Building and managing relationships with landlords Continuity of support and engagement The model is new and contrary to traditional models of supported accommodation It can be difficult to see success but failure is obvious and costly

14 Its right on top of is, constantly. I've got 3 drug dealers in my street, there s 2 drug dealers just across in the next street, then behind is there's another 2 drug dealers. Its just tempting all the time. I used to do drugs, I was on drugs for 27 year and I've tried to keep meself right but I'm messing about again. (Lenny. negative trajectory) I think me mental health s gannin a bit worse like, since I ve quit the legal high I m starting to hallucinate again Well it wasn t really stopping is it was just putting is to sleep I nar who it is cos one of me best friends hung himself when I was a bairn. Well I wasn t a bairn I was a teenager. I divnt nar why but he s just there. (Carl. Fluctuating trajectory)
