Community Learning and Development, Fife Council Auchmuty : Very supportive lead Worker and team Auchmuty High School : Excellent local facility and very keen to support, though bureaucracy can limit involvement Auchmuty Job Club : Job search provided via Job Centre Plus Glenrothes Integrated Schools : Work with schools but also keen to work in partnership with others Glenrothes Voluntary Group Network : Voluntary sector groups come together in a peer support network (DAT Team Fife Council) Drug and alcohol support active in the area NHS Addictions Team : Drugs and alcohol support active in the area Prevention First : Homelessness Prevention active in Auchmuty Warout Primary School : Local primary school keen to undertake joint work under Our Place supportive during early phase Ladybird Nursery : local authority nursery based locally Volunteering and Community Activism Anecdotal evidence and work with Community Connectors indicates that there is a limited number of activists and volunteers working across a number of groups and a large number of strong individuals volunteering under the Tenants and Residents Association. This group has started a huge range of new and on-going activity but there is a dearth of volunteers in other groups. 6 The local economy Busy Bees Nursery is a local franchise of a national company providing childcare in the area There are a range of small businesses in the area including corner shop, an Indian take away, Pinkerton s the restaurant and target tyres. The commerce of the area however is dominated by the main covered shopping centre which is within walking distance. 6

9 The Tenants and Residents run Community Flat : A central hub for proactive community projects and good local information Auchmuty Community Learning Centre, though local authority run is central to the community and a very busy hub of activity operated by a very experienced and supportive CLD manager 9

10 Schools vary in quality from the high spec new High School, which serves a very wide area but is open for community use, to the less well developed primary schools. 10

11 Community Facilities principally Warout Stadium and the various Churches, like many facilities may need some up-grading and renovation but in general provide an excellent range of spaces for community activity. Churches 11
