The sparge system connection to the flushpipe is top entry for an exposed surface mounted cistern (see fig 1). By using an elbow fitting the sparge system connection can be easily converted to back entry for a concealed duct mounted cistern. Flushpipe Urinals are supplied with 22 mm diameter stainless steel flushpipes and wall fixing clips. The length of each flushpipe allows for its cistern to be mounted at the maximum recommended height. 11 ,,,, General Stainless Steel Urinal Installation Guidelines General Urinal Installation Instructions Stainless steel wall hung trough urinals should be installed at an appropriate height to suit the age of the users. As a general guide juniors have a recommended height of 510mm from the floor to the top edge of the trough (channel) and adults 610mm. All urinals should be installed with the top edge of the urinal level. For wall hung trough urinals the wall mounting brackets should be screwed to the wall, and then the urinal securely slid down on to them, the urinal can then be secured to the wall with the fixing holes at the bottom. For floor standing urinals the fixing holes on the flanges should be used to fix the urinal back to the wall. The urinal waste supplied needs to be fitted to the outlet hole in the urinal channel and can be connected up to a suitably sized trap and your waste pipe work. The stainless steel flush pipe supplied should be connected to the inlet stub pipe on the urinal with the supplied chrome plated brass compression fitting. The flush pipe is sized to suit the optimum mounting height of the auto flushing cistern. The auto syphon should be installed into the hole in the bottom of the cistern casing with the washers and nut supplied with the syphon. The cistern supplied should be fitted to the wall level and with suitable wall fixings (not supplied). The cistern should be installed at a height so that the stainless steel flush pipe enters the syphon tail by a maximum of 25mm. The flush pipe is fixed to the syphon tail with the supplied cap nut and rubber o ring. The flush pipe can be cut down slightly if required. The flush pipe should be secured to the wall with the stainless steel down pipe clip supplied.

The petcock regulates the flow of water into the cistern which will determine how often the cistern will flush. The water supply can be regulated by the screw fitting in the end of the petcock. For the first flush we recommend that you fill the cistern quickly with a bucket, rather than via the petcock. If the auto cistern doesn t flush properly straight away there may be a couple of causes: The down pipe has been installed too far into the syphon tail. Check the dimension, trim as necessary and re-install. The maximum the down pipe should enter the syphon tail is 25mm. An air lock in the syphon or pipework. Fill the cistern quickly with a bucket of water to expel any trapped air out of the system. Earthing Continuity All urinals are provided with a number of fixing points on to which an earthing continuity wire with an end terminal can be secured. How An Auto Syphon Works Auto syphons are a vertical outlet tube covered by a bell casing with a small gap at the base. When the water level in the cistern rises the water level in the bell casing rises as well. Once the water level reaches the top of the vertical outlet tube the water will pour down the outlet tube and down the flush pipe (a). This starts a syphon action inside the bell casing which empties the water in the cistern. Once the water level gets below the gap in the bell housing base the syphon action is broken and the flush stops. The whole process then starts again with the cistern filling up. 13 After Installation of the Stainless Steel Urinal Stainless Steel Urinals Care Maintenance & Cleaning After installation of the stainless steel urinal the whole urinal should be thoroughly cleaned and washed down with a mild soap / detergent solution and water. This will remove any debris that has been left on the urinal during the installation process. Deposits can be left on the urinal which will discolour from items such as: steel nails, screws, paint tins, tools, grinding deposits etc. Routine Care and Maintenance of Stainless Steel Urinals Stainless steel urinals like any other product require routine cleaning. Stainless steel urinals should be cleaned with a mild soap or detergent solution and water. A regular wipe down with a sponge or cloth with the mild soap / detergent solution will prevent the build up of dirt and deposits and keep the urinal in good condition. Rinse with clean water afterwards. Regular weekly cleaning should be sufficient. Cleaning of Stubborn Stains on Stainless Steel Urinals If stubborn stains and deposits have been allowed to build up then a cream cleanser that is suitable for use on stainless steel can be used. A nylon kitchen pad or brush can also be used to remove built up dirt and deposits, again use with the mild soap / detergent solution. Bleach Looking After Your Stainless Steel Urinals Bleach or any bleach based product or products containing sodium hypochlorite should never be used on stainless steel products. If this is used on or accidently spilt on the stainless steel it will need to be quickly cleaned and rinsed off before irreparable damage is done to the stainless steel.
