2 - 2 - THE ANIMALS THAT PRODUCED THESE EMBRYOS G A R Twinhearts and H P C A Proceed These two American bulls are making exceptional contributions to the Australian Angus Gene pool. Twinhearts has enormous growth with moderate birth and mature weights. He indexes very highly on all of the indices. Semen does not seem to be available. We used our last straws in November All embryos were implanted with the exception of these being offered for sale. Proceed is the outstanding outcross marbling bull in Australia. We have used him intensively and are happy with his calves. The embryos on offer are out of a sound outcross cow. We have four calves of this breeding at Straban and they look very promising. We have been unable to locate any semen from Proceed in Australia. V A R Discovery is a bull that has exceptional growth with moderate birth weight. Kodak and Momentum are two bulls that we used to put additional marbling into our gene pool without sacrificing growth. By using Momentum (and Proceed) we have accessed marbling genes from outside the relatively small Australian gene pool. Esslemont General, Topbos Leading Edge and Clunes Crossing Dusty are young Australian bulls with remarkable numbers. We think that it is necessary to sample these bulls early and we are providing an opportunity for you to do so as well. Genesis is now a well known bull. We used him early and have some valuable daughters from which we can breed the next generation of high performance animals. The Donors We have flushed J105 (by Grando) and J43 (by Gardens Wave) extensively over the last few years. We have a number of progeny by them on the ground, some coming and are keeping some embryos to implant this year. J53 is a full sister to J43. Murray Consensus J23 and J87 are half sisters that we flushed as maiden heifers to G A R Twinhearts. In each case we recovered a large number of embryos and are offering the surplus for sale. Murray K51 is the latest Grando daughter that we have flushed very successfully. She has exceptional carcase merit for a cow with so much growth. Murray New Standard K27 is an intentional outcross to a bull that performed well in the United States. She was flushed to Proceed to produce extreme outcross progeny. The three younger (M) heifers are among our elite maiden heifers. They are the progeny of some of the outstanding performance bulls in the breed. We will have progeny from them on the ground shortly.

This provides both EBV graphs and estimated EBVs for the matings. On the following four pages (4 to 7) you will find EBV graphs of the sale embryos. The EBV table on page 8 presents the same information in a more compact form. The information has been sourced from the Mating Predictor on the Angus Australia website. Some of these embryos include genetics from outstanding bulls in the breed for which semen is either unavailable or very difficult to source. Others are from very high performance animals as shown by the percentile values of the indices in the table. Kilburnie prides itself on being a very high performance herd of Angus cattle. We are happy to make high performance genetics available to all producers of Angus cattle. On the final pages we provide information on the method by which we intend to sell these embryos.

4 - 4 - Proceed is still the highest marbling bull in the United States. To our knowledge semen is now not available for purchase. This is a unique opportunity for you to introduce genes into your herd to blend with Australian genetics. The outstanding full sib to these embryos in our herd is NURM40. He has an IMF% EBV of 4.0. We used him lightly in Check his figures. Twinhearts is one of the highest indexing bulls in Australia and has very high performing progeny in the few herds where he has been used. The predicted EBVs of this mating suggest that you can own animals with outstanding fertility, meat yield and feed efficiency. These two Consensus daughters were flushed to Twinhearts to lock in the extraordinary combination of calving ease, growth and mature size that come from both sides of the pedigree. All of these embryos will allow you to breed feed efficiency into your herd while maintaining marbling. Taste fat, not waste fat. These embryos will give you access to Twinhearts unique genetics. He is currently one of the top 20 animals in the breed on all four indices. Semen is no longer available and these embryos are one of the very few ways in which you can access the genes of this remarkable animal. A number of ET calves by him, out of some of our outstanding cows and heifers, will be born in the spring.

5 - 5 - Discovery has an exceptional combination of calving ease, growth and mature size. These matings have aimed to marry these strengths to some high growth animals with high fertility and very good carcase attributes. Angus cattle are valued for their calving ease, fertility and carcase quality. Their weaknesses (relative to other breeds) have been their smaller size and body fatness. These animals retain the good qualities and add in growth, feed efficiency and retail yield. We used Kodak as the most appropriate bull to introduce extra marbling into our herd. Both of these cows go back to high marbling genetics. Wave J43 is generally regarded as one of the visually most attractive animals we have bred. We have joined her repeatedly to high marbling bulls and have had some major successes with calves by Proceed and Momentum. These embryos should marble well. We see K51 as a stepping stone to the next generation of Angus. Her embryos are part of that step. They should have calving ease and growth, fertility and marbling. Your next step is to get retail yield and feed efficiency up to levels that compete with the European breeds.

6 - 6 - Wave J53 is a flush sister of J43 - with more growth. These embryos will have very high marbling. Again we emphasise one of the strongest points of the Kilburnie cattle: fertility is very lowly heritable but we have embedded it into our herd so that you too can benefit from it. Momentum is one of a handful of animals in the United States that has both marbling and EMA EDPs in the top 1% of the breed. We have four calves on the ground from this mating and they will be important contributors to the next generation of Angus cattle that we breed. We used Esslemont Lotto intensively in 2016 and are now using Esslemont General over our cows. We are managing to produce animals with exceptional growth curves, high fertility and carcase values in the top 10% of the breed. We think you will want to improve feed efficiency. These animals provide the basis for you and your clients to breed well balanced Angus cattle with superior performance that will sell at a premium in all markets.

7 - 7 - Leading Edge is one of the few outstanding young Australian bulls that is available through AI. We used him over these two exceptional cows to cement growth into our herd while retaining reasonable calving ease. In addition to fertility they have carcase weight and marbling. Marbling in the top percentiles of the breed is supported by acceptable feed efficiency. The whole package is one which will ensure that you and your clients will be able to breed bulls that produce outstanding calves that attract premiums in the market place. Dusty is one of the most exciting young bulls to become available this year. We will implant embryos by him in the Spring which will be at the forefront of Angus genetics. They show that it is possible to breed small cows that have progeny with heavy, high quality carcases. Genesis has given us high growth animals that carry fat. His calves are very docile, highly fertile and have very rapid growth. We have kept a number of his daughters. Murray Genesis M13 is a good example of these daughters. Her potential is evident in the embryos by V A R Discovery that we are offering for sale.

9 - 9 - Kilburnie Angus High Indexing Angus Cattle Method of selling the embryos We are offering embryos mostly in packs of 4. We show the prices at which we are willing to sell these packs. We will accept offers until Thursday, June 21. On that date we will sell any embryos for which we have received an offer at or above the reserve price to the person who has made the highest offer. If an offer on a pack has already been made we will only accept offers that are $500 higher. Embryos are stored at Castlereagh Breeders, Bendemeer. We will cover transport costs within Australia for all purchases that exceed $ WE ARE ALWAYS OPEN TO OFFERS TO SWAP EMBRYOS. IF YOU HAVE SURPLUS HIGH INDEXING EM- BRYOS FROM PAST FLUSHES THAT COULD CONTRIBUTE TO OUR PROGRAMME WE MIGHT NEGOTIATE AN EXCHANGE. After June 21 we are open to offers on any remaining embryos on a first come, first served basis. The list of Embryo Lots and Prices On the following page we have a list of the embryo packs available. We will maintain this list and update it on a regular basis. When an offer is made on a particular pack we will record the offer - in red if it exceeds or is equal to the reserve price. In the example shown here Pack 2 has an offer of $2000 (at or above reserve price so shown in red) from buyer AA. Pack 11 has an offer of $3500 (below reserve price so shown in black) from buyer BB. Who is AA? When you make an offer we will give you a unique code as your ident. It will appear on the list as and when it is updated. We will maintain an updated list of embryo lots and prices which we will make available to all buyers whenever an offer is received.
