Richmond, British Columbia. INNOVATING FOR A GREENER WORLD WITH MINERAL-BASED ANTI MICROBIALS Presentation for To Watertech 2010 April 23, Frank R. Varseveld President / CEO EnvirEau Technologies Inc.
Historical uses of Minerals to Protect Water Quality Copper, Silver & Zinc have been used for centuries. Potable Water Urns Dressings for Wounds Internal Health Nutritional Supplements Veterinary Uses Enhanced Immunity
More Recently Copper Miners not Infected with Cholera Algae Control with Granular Copper Sulphate Silver in Water Filters Copper Sulphate with EDTA CHELATES Other Copper Compounds
Minerals in water aquo ions of the mineral These ions are active until affected by: High ph High Alkalinity Hardness Organics May Cause Instability Precipitation or Binding ION Speciation is very important. Most IONS are SHORT LIVED Most IONS are not BIOLOGICALLY Active
EXAMPLE: Cu++ is the most biologically active species of Copper ion. Total Copper at ph 5 At higher ph Hi Cu++ Cu++ reduces Cu (CO3) ) and CuOH+ + increases ions are more stable But decreased pesticidal effectiveness
To overcome this challenge, many combinations have been tried. Higher copper concentrations Organic chelations (citric Acid, EDTA) Ammonia Chlorine A few products using these formulations solutions are in use. Unmodified Aquo ION of Copper Cu [H2O]6)++
Our research led us to an inorganic ionizing agent which we now manufacture and add to all our formulations. It provides a combination of molecular stability and high pesticidal efficacy. This formulation offers the advantage of: Molecular stability in hostile environments - long shelf life - long-term protection High efficacy in a wide range of water quality Minimal environmental impact due to lower application rates
Products formulated with this Technology are described as being: A stable molecular matrix Energized aquo ions Capable of seek-and and-kill missions Selective microbial killers some examples:

Environmental Fate of mineralbased anti-microbials Concentrations are reduced to low ppb range Bonds with organics in a non-toxic form Consumed by plants, livestock or people Appears as a back-ground level of natural mineral in water or soil Becomes part of humic acid in marine sediments
Mineral-based Anti-Microbials offer opportunities to : Improve water quality / food safety Conserve water by recycling Reduce usage of synthetic chemicals Reduce costs Improve safety Reduce losses
Thank you for the opportunity to present Q & A?
