4 Measuring a Patient Prerequisites When making appointments to conduct CRT sessions, please hand out the patient information brochure (see supplement 1*) and familiarize the patient with the prerequisites of the procedure: The patient should be relaxed when they have an appointment and they should refrain from activities that cause the body to regulate prior to the examination. Before the measurement begins, the patient must adapt to the examination room temperature. The room temperature should be between 20 and 23 degrees centigrade. Do not take any homeopathic and/or regulative type medications prior to the measurement session, excluding medication critical to the patient s health. Please ensure the patient refrains from any regulative therapy two weeks before the session. Regulative therapies include neural therapy, acupuncture, bioenergetics treatments or electro neural diagnostic/therapy. These therapies may influence the regulative ability of the body, causing inaccurate diagnostic results. Ensure that the patient knows not to shower on the day of their examination. The use of cosmetics or body lotions is not allowed prior to the session, as they may affect skin temperature. The patient should not wear tight clothing reddened areas will affect measurement. The patient should wear socks, trousers and long sleeved shirts or blouses. Females should remove their bras thirty minutes prior to their measurement session. Measuring a Patient 1

5 General Notes Thermography sessions must be conducted before 2pm, as the heat physiology of the human body changes in the late afternoon and evening. Ideally, morning people (early risers) should be measured early in the morning, and late risers may be measured later in the day. To best compare two thermograms of the same patient, conduct a CRT session at the same time of day. For example, if the first CRT session is taken at 10am Thursday, the second comparative thermogram should be taken at 10am Friday. Under the comments area, take note of whether or not the patient wears glasses, has scars or previous surgeries. Also note any deviation from prerequisites whether they had coffee, took a shower, etc. Do not conduct a CRT session if the patient has an infection (for example, influenza), or is in the state of a fever. Children follow different measurement conditions - the cooling phase is only five minutes. The dental and chest measurement may be omitted depending on age. Instead of measuring the uterus or prostate, the mirror image of the appendix and groin. The Session A CRT Measurement Session consists of a First Reading during which the patient progressively disrobes, a 10 minute cooling period, followed by a Second Reading. Each Reading consists of 119 Measurement Points. If required, you can continue with a third and fourth measurement. After the session questionnaire is completed, the Measurement screen will appear, with a visual guide to the left and measurement data to the right. Before starting the session, be sure to mark these measurement areas: Bend of elbow (right and left) Glabella (forehead value) Once the program reaches the 10 minute timer (5 minutes for children), the patient should sit on a backless stool. Remove the slip to the edge of the pubic area so that the measurement points in the geneital area can cool down. The patient is also required to remove their socks, shoes and trousers. You should limit conversation with the patient so that they can stay relaxed. Begin the second measurement session after ten minutes. After completing the second measurement, you may leave the room to retreive the interpretation of the thermogram and print out the report for the patient s file. Measuring a Patient 2

6 Dental Measuring Areas Perform the dental measurement with the mouth closed. The CRT 2000 requires you to measure the teeth from the centre (labium) outwards (wisdom tooth area). The teeth are measured in the following order: 1. Upper right quadrant (teeth 1.1 to 1.8) 2. Upper left quadrant (teeth 2.1 to 2.8) 3. Lower right quadrant (teeth 3.1 to 3.8) 4. Lower left quadrant (teeth 4.1 to 4.8) For the upper jaw, place the sensor approximately one sensor diameter s width above the contour of the lip. As with all measurement points, it is critical to re-measure the points as closely as possible during the second measurement in comparison to the first. For technicians, Eidam advises marking measurement points to facilitate this. Measuring a Patient 3
