12 SWIFT THE BREAKTHROUGH TREATMENT FOR COMMON AND PLANTAR WARTS Launched in 2016, Swift is one of the fastest growing treatments in Podiatry. With treatment times in seconds, the award-winning Swift system harnesses the power of microwave energy to give Podiatrists a new, precise, and easy way of treating plantar warts. 4 key differences that Swift offers: Confidence independent clinical study headed by UK Podiatrist Dr Ivan Bristow revealed 76% efficacy in the worst cases of verruca (University of Southampton, 3 centre study; corroborated by Post Market Follow-up data comprising 1,205 patients) Consistency a repeatable treatment with predictable clinical outcomes Cleanliness no smoke, no anaesthetic, no post-procedural dressing and minimal debridement Convenience the potential for much shorter appointment times (average Swift follow-up tx time is 15 minutes); widely acknowledged anecdotal evidence that verruca in children resolve very quickly

13 SWIFT THE EQUIPMENT The Swift system is comprised of a compact, microwave generator (9lbs), a flexible microwave cable, and a handpiece. Users set time and power, ensure surface contact, and press a button on the handpiece to activate power. Swift also features a disposable applicator tip, with one disposable required per patient visit. To prevent cross-contamination, the tip expires after 15 minutes and has a unique, re-use mitigation feature included in the design.

16 SWIFT THE SCIENCE BEHIND SWIFT Swift is a treatment applied directly to the skin that creates localised heat energy in the tissue. Hyperthermia is widely acknowledged to provide a response through: Heat dissipation Tissue damage or death to cell membranes and intra-cellular structures Modulation of a number of immune processes Research using Swift in the UK focused on immune modulation, and skin keratinocytes from microwave-treated human skin were found to show induction of danger associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) such as heat shock proteins (HSP-70) that were able to signal to dendritic cells. Even at a low energy, keratinocyte induced dendritic cell activation induced enhanced cross-presentation of HPV antigens to CD8+ T cells, with consequent interferon-γ production. Interestingly, in liquid nitrogen treated control experiments, similar keratinocyte driven dendritic cell activation was not found.
