6 Learning Outcome Assessment Methods, Benchmarks, and Schedule Assessment Instrument National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE): standardized licensure examination. Clinical Performance Instrument (CPI): standardized measure of clinical performance used by all accredited physical therapy education programs at midterm & end of each clinical internships. UNLV students have 4 internships. Learning outcome(s) assessed (list by #) #1 through 10 (all) #1 through 10 (all; emphasis on #1, 2, 6, 9, 10 Person responsible for instrument & data collection Chair will purchase/retrieve data from Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). Clinical instructors & interning students complete the CPI. Director of Clinical Education (DCE) will have access to local data now, and aggregated data as APTA makes it available. DCE will share information with Assessment Coordinator for inclusion in annual report When and where will data be collected Each graduate is responsible to register for & schedule the examination through the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) after program completion. Individual results are available for those who have released their scores to the program upon completion of the exam. FSBPT makes aggregated data available and the program will access the scores each Fall for that year s applicants. DCE collects local aggregated data that compare the local program to the national averages The CPI is an online tool that captures these data. The APTA plans to provide programs with data, individual student report, and national average performance levels beginning Spring These data will be incorporated as they become available. Expected Measures (results that would indicate success) 1. Program average over 3 years must meet or exceed 85% pass rate. 2. UNLV average scores will meet or exceed national average. 1. At least 85% of students will pass each of 4 clinical internships: 761, 762, 763, & UNLV student CPI scores will meet or exceed national averages as these data will become available. 10/2014 6

7 Pregraduate and Alumni Surveys: created by Program. Administered electronically just prior to graduation & thereafter Count of scholarly activity involving student work including grants, publications, national presentations #1 through 10 (all) #5. Evidencebased practice & sound reasoning Assessment Coordinator will create, maintain, & update surveys with input from, Assessment Committee, Core Faculty, and Chair. Chair will collect these data from Digital Measures. The Assessment Coordinator will request aggregated data from the Faculty Support Coordinator of Digital Measures Assessment Coordinator meets with graduating students each spring within 2 weeks of graduation. Students fill out survey electronically. Alumni Survey will be administered every year to alumni for 1 st 3 years after graduation. These surveys will be distributed in both paper and electronic format to alumni for whom contact information is available. These data are collected in November each year to meet CAPTE reporting deadlines 1. At least 85% of pregraduates report feeling > adequately prepared for all elements of practice across all objectives just prior to graduation. 2. At least 85% of recent alumni report feeling > adequately prepared for all elements of practice across all objectives at least 1 year after graduation. 3. At least 50% of graduating students will seek licensure and/or employment in Nevada after graduation. 1. Faculty/student generated scholarly activity will meet or exceed productivity indices for similarly sized and staffed physical therapy programs. 2. UNLV PT students will apply for GPSA and other grants designed to help graduate students disseminate research findings. 10/2014 7

8 Undergraduate programs should assess at least one University Undergraduate Learning Outcome (UULO) each year, which may or may not overlap with a program learning outcome. Please note we are a Graduate level program and we do not assess UULO Plan for sharing the assessment results and acting on them (i.e., closing the loop) Strengths and needs will be identified through the evaluation process. The Chair, Assessment Coordinator, Assessment Committee, and Core Faculty will collaborate during January and February faculty meetings/retreats to identify strategies designed to remediate the opportunities for improvement identified in the preliminary report. These strategies will be identified in the Annual Report as Next steps to consider for each relevant student learning outcome. Comparison from year to year will allow the Program to evaluate whether those strategies were effective. Results will be disseminated to all stakeholders or other interested parties including School of Allied Health Sciences Administration, Department Advisory Board and Alumni through the UNLV Physical Therapy website and/or published in newsletter format. 10/2014 8
