4 INTRO TO AROMATHERAPY October 26-28, 2018 In this program you will learn the origins, Latin names and properties (or specific use and benefit) of 20 essential oils. You will also learn to blend for the client s specific needs and hot to safely apply those oils to massage therapy. You will also be introduced to different carrier oils and methods of application. To receive a certificate you will need to attend this 3 day workshop plus perform and document 15 additional hours of Aromatherapy Massage, including a written exam component. INSTRUCTOR Barb Cantley, RMT graduated from Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies with an Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy in Since then she has instructed Business Management at the College and also teaches two electives; Hot Stone Massage and Introduction to Aromatherapy. Barb currently runs her own massage practice and has developed a love for Aromatherapy within her own clientele.

5 APPLIED REFLEXOLOGY November 2-3, 2018 OR May 31-June 1, 2019 This course is designed to provide participants with a general knowledge of Reflexology, facilitating the understanding and the confidence to incorporate applied reflexology skills into a treatment plan. Participants will also develop an understanding of the interaction between muscles, internal structures and organs to assist chronic conditions. INSTRUCTOR Lesley Baartman graduated with her Bachelor of Science in 1990, gaining her a solid knowledge base in anatomy, physiology and pathology. Since then, she has also acquired her Certification in Reflexology from the International Institute of Reflexology and her Diploma in Therapeutic Reflexology. She has the skill base to combine aspects of Reflexology into a massage treatment plan and to contribute to enhancing the evidence informed approach of massage therapy. Together with her comprehensive information and aptitude to teach Lesley presents workshops that are informative, practical and easy to assimilate.

6 LYMPHATIC INTEGRATION November 2-4, 2018 This course is designed to provide participants with an assessment and treatment methodology for the lymphatic system, lymphatic drainage and immune system disorders. It will cover physiology, anatomy and pathology of the lymphatic system. It will expose participants to general lymphatic and immune system boosting techniques as well as specific lymphatic stimulating techniques for lymph nodes. The course is based on Osteopathic manipulations/techniques for the lymphatic system NOT Vodder based MLD or other MLD courses and will not lead to certification for lymphedema treatment.

7 THEORETICAL INSTRUCTOR LYMPHATIC INTEGRATION CONT'D November 2-4, 2018 Sheila Bergman, W.C. (Hon.), RMT, has been an instructor at the Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies Inc. since 1995 and currently teaches Physiology, Pathology, Neurophysiology, Hydrotherapy and Medical Terminology. From , Sheila was a volunteer member of the Palliative Care Team at Middlechurch and served as chair from She has facilitated the Friend in Hand/Compassionate Care course numerous times both at Middlechurch and Wellington College since PRACTICAL INSTRUCTOR A former licensed practical nurse in Saskatoon, Monica Gran graduated from the Northern Institute of Massage (Blackpool, England) in 1991 with a Basic Massage Diploma, and then with an Advanced Diploma from Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies (Regina, Saskatchewan) in Monica began teaching at the Wellington College in She continued her own education, and graduated with a Adult Education Certificate in 2007 from the University of Manitoba.

8 SPA PRACTICES November 23-25, 2018 The Spa Therapy and Treatments workshop will enable participants to understand and practice spa treatments. Concepts covered will include: enhancing customer service skills and spa etiquette; proper maintenance and cleaning of equipment; history and type of spas; types and benefits of spa therapy; body treatments; contraindications; skin physiology; thermotherapy/cryotherapy; product benefits and active ingredients of treatment products; hot towel and lotion application, facial knowledge, techniques and application. INSTRUCTOR Larysa Resler is a graduate of the Massage Therapy College of Manitoba. She has been a Massage Therapist for the past 11 years, working in some of the Top Rated Spas in Winnipeg. She started her career at a small spa called Elle, eventually transitioning to Ten Spa for 8 years.in addition to her business, Larysa is a certified Hot and Cold Stone Instructor. For the past 4 years she has also been an Instructor at the Massage Therapy College of Manitoba for the Thermotherapy Course.

9 HOT STONE MASSAGE November 23-25, 2018 OR March 1-3, 2019 In this program, participants will learn how to set up and properly care for their massage stones. They will learn about the benefits and contraindications of hot and cold stone therapy. Participants will learn various techniques, including spinal and chakra layouts, to competently perform a 90 minute Hot Stone Massage. INSTRUCTOR Barb Cantley, RMT graduated from Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapies with an Advanced Diploma in Massage Therapy in Since then she has instructed Business Management at the College and also teaches two electives; Hot Stone Massage and Introduction to Aromatherapy. Barb currently runs her own massage practice and has developed a love for HSM within her own clientele.

10 RIB MOBILIZATION February 1-2, 2019 OR April 5-6, 2019 In this workshop, participants will procure knowledge in anatomy/kinesiology of the ribcage, contraindications to mobilization of the ribcage and an understanding of how rib dysfunction presents in clients. Participants will enhance their skills in palpation of rib structure and obtain an assessment and treatment methodology for safe treatment of both functional (respiratory) and structural rib dysfunction. Participants are eligible to sit for a written exam that includes both theoretical and practical multiple choice questions reflecting the information presented during the 2 day workshop. If the participant is successful in achieving a minimum 75% and shows evidence of 30 post-workshop practical hours of practice, they will receive a Certificate of Completion for the Rib Mobilization workshop.

11 INSTRUCTOR RIB MOBILIZATION CONT'D February 1-2, 2019 OR April 5-6, 2019 After graduating from Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies with the Abe Reimer Award of Excellence, Dale was invited to pursue instructor traning. An instructor at Wellington College since 1997, Dale teaches Massage Application to advanced full-time and distance education students. For his ongoing dedication to students, Dale received honors from Wellington College in Dale's work in Somatics was published in an industry journal and his expertise in applied massage has led him to present at conferences and seminars across Canada. He continues to operate a private practice in his spare time. Dale received his Adult Education Certificate from the University of Manitoba in 2008.

12 DEEP TISSUE ACCESS February 1-2, 2019 This two-day workshop is focused to the student of massage therapy or the new massage therapist. Often when going through studying to become a therapist we focus on superficial tissues. This skill building workshop will take you to a deeper understanding of how to access muscles that allow for greater depth in treatment. By completion of this workshop there will be very few muscles you cannot palpate or treat. INSTRUCTOR Randy Ellingson is the owner and principal of Wellington College. Through a lifelong dedication to science-based learning and applied teaching, Randy has helped launch the careers of thousands of massage professionals and contributed to the growth of a vibrant industry.

13 FASCIAL INTEGRATION March 1-3, 2019 This course will introduce students of Massage Therapy to parts of the Fascial Integration series, where the nomenclature of fascial restrictions of the body will be categorized and treated. Students are expected to be able to identify when a fascial problem should be treated, when it is secondary to other problems in the body and when it is the cause. They will also be expected to choose an appropriate technique for the patient s problem.

15 INTRO TO CRANIAL PALPATION AND TREATMENT March 15-17, 2019 COURSE OUTLINE This course instructed by Brad McCutcheon Dip(SIM), MT,SMT(c),NCMT,D.O. covers the anatomy, physiology and mechanics of cranial movement theory. It will allow students to gain palpation skills needed to feel the slight movements in a clients cranium and use them to assess for normal and dysfunctional motion. COURSE OUTLINE Brad McCutcheon is a Doctor of Osteopathy and the principal of the Toronto campus of the Canadian College of Osteopathy. The College has had the privilege of a relationship with Brad that spans over two decades and are honored to have him teach this course again.

16 PALLIATIVE CARE FOR THE MASSAGE THERAPIST This 14 hour program works to prepare you to care and support those individuals and/ or families who are living with a life-limiting illness or coping with grief. You will cover topic areas including the role of the massage therapist, death and dying, comfort measures, listening and responding, spiritual care, loss, grief and bereavement. You will also look at exploring your personal attitudes towards death and dying, deepen your self-awareness, and understand the importance of self-care. INSTRUCTOR March 15-16, 2019 Sheila Bergman, W.C. (Hon.), RMT, is an instructor at Wellington College. In 1998 she became the massage therapist for the residents of the Middlechurch Home. From , Sheila was a volunteer member of the Palliative Care Team there and served as chair from In 2004, she was a guest speaker at the Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba Care Conference and has since facilitated the Compassionate Care course numerous times both at Middlechurch and Wellington College.

17 PRE & POST SPORTS EVENT MASSAGE March 29-30, 2019 The Pre and Post Event Sports Massage techniques offered through the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies Inc., have been compiled and refined after several years of study and practical application at various events and collaboration with Sports Massage educators. Sports Massage dates back to the early Olympics and ancient Chinese Shaolin Temples. In the modules offered in this course, students will have the option to study various angles and aspects of all that Sports Massage entails. INSTRUCTOR Michael Harvey WC (Hons) BPAS, graduated from the University of Regina with an Undergraduate Degree in Physical Activity Studies with a Major in Fitness and Lifestyle and a Minor in Psychology. He also graduated from the Western College of Remedial Massage Therapies Inc., in Regina, Saskatchewan, with a Diploma in Advanced Remedial Massage Therapy. For the last 11 years, Michael has been an instructor at Western College.

18 TEMPORO- MANDIBULAR JOINT SYNDROME March 29-30, 2019 COURSE OUTLINE TMJD, characterized by myofascial pain, can benefit greatly from massage therapy by reducing the muscle tension in the jaw, neck and shoulders. This two-day workshop will examine the possible causes, associated treatments as well as self-care recommendations for the client. 19 UNDERSTANDING THE PREGNANT PELVIS LEVEL 2 April 5-7, 2019 This workshop will take participants through an understanding of the physiology, signs and symptoms of labour and delivery. The therapist will learn empowering techniques and coping mechanisms for the mother through labor and delivery. Participants will also learn how to organize a team based pre-natal class and how to prepare for hospital and home births. Some administration will also be taught, including how to set up contracts and how to book appointments for the specific needs of pregnant moms. Finally the participants will learn how to teach parents the art of baby massage including common ailments such as colic, constipation and congestion. If time allows, participants will be taught of the dysfunctions that come with labour and delivery such as torticollis (congenital vs. birth trauma). Each participant is required to document seven case studies including two birth stories with testimonies from the parents and any medical staff and/or midwife that were present. A certificate will be issued upon completion.

20 UNDERSTANDING THE PREGNANT PELVIS LEVEL 2 CONT'D April 5-7, 2019 INSTRUCTOR Janie Lysack LCSP (Phys), is an award-winning graduate of Wellington College. Her thesis study influence the removal of diabetes mellitus from the international contraindication list. After joining the faculaty at Wellington, her practical approach to teaching led her to develop a number of seminars relating to pre and postnatal massage and labour and delivery massage support. Now Janie has a thriving business based on pre and postnatal massage and loves to share her knowledge and experience with others looking to enter the pre and postnatal massage specialty.

21 VISCERAL MOBILIZATION May 3-4, 2019 COURSE OUTLINE Visceral Massage is a mild manual technique that can assist the body's ability to release restrictions that cause pain or dysfunction. Carol Dobrinsky has been practicing massage therapy for over 20 years. She specializes in visceral work, treating digestive disorders and chronic pain. She has found that throughout her years of practice, the positive results for chronic pain and digestive disorders were obtained through use of visceral applications INSTRUCTOR Carol Dobrinsky is a life-long learner and alumnus of Wellington College. Among other achievements and experiences, Carol spent time in Peru teaching massage to the locals and making a difference among those with disabilities there. Carol specializes in visceral mobilization and is a guest speaker during that module in the massage course. We are excited to have her unpack her knoweldge during this two day course.

22 BREAST MASSAGE May 31-June 1, 2019 This 14 hour program works to educate the therapist in the anatomy of the breast tissue, obtaining specific permission for the application of breast massage, and in being proficient at the application of breast massage. Students in this program will gain an appreciation of the unique physiology of breast tissue and gain a greater comfort in talking about breast massage treatment with clients.
