T: What do they see? C: They see a moving van. T: They decide to spy on the van. Where do they hide? C: They hide in the tree. T: Joy wonders if it s a girl or a boy. Let s see! T: Is it a girl or a boy? C It s a boy! T: Right. Joy sees a boy. Why is she surprised? C: The boy is cute. T: The boy sees Joy and Jamie in the tree. What does he ask to them? C: What are you doing up there? T: How does Joy answer? C: We re looking for our cat. T: What happens when she jimps down? C: She drops her spyglass.
T: The cute boy kindly pick up the spy glass and gives it to Joy. What happens to Joy? C: Her face turns red. And she can t talk. T: Joy might be shy. What s the boy s name? C: His name is Finn. T: Finn and Jamie shake hands and introduce themselves to each other. And, Joy seems to like Finn. T: Joy is having breakfast. What is she eating? C: She s eating some bread and an apple. T: What does she think about while eating? C: She thinks about Finn. T: Does he go to her school? C: Yes. He goes to the same school with her. T: Is he popular? C: Yes, some girls are talking about Finn. T: Joy wants to get closer to him. What s her idea? C: She will have a party. And, she only invites Fiin to the party. T: When is the party? C: 2 p.m tomorrow. T: Who gives the card to Finn? C: Jamie. T: The three girls are also interested in the party. Will they come, too? C: I guess so.
T: The party has started. Does only Finn come to the party? C: No, many girls also come to the party. T: They all want to talk to Finn. What does Joy do for Finn? C: She brings some pie for him. T: Then, what happens? C: A girl bumps into her and the pie lands on Finn s shirt. T: What a disaster! Finn leaves the party. T: What s the title of chapter 3? C: Joy s makeover. T: Let s see how Joy changes. Who does Finn talk with? C: Amelia. T: She has curly hair and pretty clothes. Whre does Joy go? C: She visits a hairstylist. T: How does she get her hair done? C: She gets her hair permed. T: She imagines her successful makeover. T: She has changed her hair. Now it s time to change her clothes. What does she wear? C: She tries on a dress. T: And she puts on makeup and perfume. Ta-da! Joy s makeover! How does she look? C: Her hais, dress and makeup are funny. T: Amelia is pretty, but Joy is funny.
T: What does she look like? C: She looks like a clown. T: Jamie makes fun of her. He will call Finn. Does Finn really come to Joy s home? C: Yes, Finn is at Joy home. T: How does he react when he sees Joy? C: He is surprised. T: How does Joy feel? C: She feels awful. T: She takes off the dress snd the makeup. T: Joy s party and makeover all failed. But, she still wants Finn to like her. What can she do? C: She can write a letter to him. T: Joy writes to Finn. What does she write? C: She s sorry for spying and the shirt. And she wants to be his friend. T: Do you think Finn will like the letter? C: Yes. T: Who will deliver the note? C: Joy will. T: Why must Finn not see her? C: Her hair is a mess. T: Where will she put her note? C: At his mailbox. T: Joy hears a sound. What is it? C: She hears a cat meow. T: Where is the cat? C: The cat is in the pool.
T: Joy tries to help the cat. Does she save the cat? C: Yes she does. T: What happens to her? C: She s all wet. Her note is all wet, too. T: Joy meets Finn. He looks happy. What does he say? C: You saved my cat. You re brave! I want to be your friend. T: Wow! He wants to be a friend with Joy. T: Where is Joy? C: She s on the couch in Finn s house. T: What is Finn doing? C: He brings hot beverage to Joy. T: What is Jamie doing? C: He s looking for Joy and the cat. T: What time is it? C: It s four thirty five. T: What sports does Finn seem to like? C: Baseball.
