2 Dear Colleague, PRESIDENT OF THE SOCIETY Welcome Address The Egyptian Hypertension Society is organizing its 8 th Annual Scientific Meeting in Cairo during the period 7-9 April This meeting is possibly the most important scientific event in the field of hypertension in our region. During the last year there were important developments in the management and treatment of hypertension. The results of ALLHAT and the 2 nd Australian Blood Pressure Study were released. The amount of literature in the field of hypertension mechanisms, pathology, diagnosis and treatment is increasing in a logarithmic fashion. It is expected that the scientific program of our meeting will cover many of the new areas and the program committee will try to make this meeting a successful scientific and cultural event. On behalf of the Egyptian Hypertension Society and the scientific committee, I am inviting you to attend the 8 th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Egyptian Hypertension Society. Mohsen Ibrahim, MD Prof. of Cardiology- President of the Egyptian Hypertension Society Dear Colleague CHAIRMAN OF THE MEETING Welcome Address On behalf of the Egyptian Hypertension Society and the Organizing Committee, I have the pleasure to invite you to share with us the 8th Annual Meeting of the Society to be held during the period 7-9 April During the last few years, the field of hypertension management has witnessed remarkable advancement that affected and decreased morbidity and mortality rates. The 8th Annual Scientific Meeting will highlight core researches on hypertension management and will also shed light on how these researches can be locally applied to achieve the best control rates among hypertensive Egyptians. Besides, the meeting will tackle the problems which confront physicians in their daily activities such as hypotension: how and when to treat, common risk factors (e.g. stress, obesity, lipid profile abnormalities, patient non-compliance to therapy. The Meeting is distinguished with discussing the recommendations of the Egyptian Hypertension Society Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension. The Egyptian Hypertension Society team work has been working over the last two years to put the recommendations for managing hypertension in Egypt and developing countries. The Organizing Committee of the Meeting includes expertise from Egypt, Arab Countries and several European Countries.
