3 Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP) A/I match is part of the Medical Specialties Matching Program Allows candidates: Couples match with candidates applying to any of MSMP. Rank and potentially match with any of MSMP Medical Specialties Matching Program (MSMP) Includes only these Internal Medicine fellowships: Cardiovascular, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine, Hematology, Hematology/Medical Oncology, Infectious Disease, Interventional Pulmonology, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Pulmonary Disease and Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine and Rheumatology. 3

9 National Program Highlights of the SMS Of 9,766 positions offered 8,483 (86.9%) were filled. Of 4,176 participating programs 3,299 (79.0%) filled all positions. Of the 62 participating subspecialties, 32 filled 90 percent or more of the positions offered and 21 filled less than 75 percent of the positions offered. National Applicant Highlights Of the 10,410 applicants who submitted a rank order list of programs, 81.5 percent (8,483) obtained positions, the highest match rate on record for the SMS. S. allopathic medical school graduates matched at a rate of 88.9 percent, the second highest on record for the SMS. 9
